WINCHESTER — "Family medical records may contain clues to help solve the 31-year-old murder of Sheila Stead, according to the investigator assigned to the cold case.

Information provided to authorities indicating “sexual and physical assaults against the other children by the hands of” their mother, Shirley Stead, and stepfather, James Stead, prompted the search for the records, according to an affidavit filed Friday in Winchester Circuit Court by Frederick County Sheriff’s Office investigator K.C. Bohrer.

Authorities have made no arrests in Stead’s murder since her body was found beside Papermill Road in Frederick County on March 29, 1979. She was last seen alive in her home less than two miles away..."

I live near Winchester, but had never heard of this case.

Following it for years. Lots of loose ends that will clear this up. However it 's probably gonna get really nasty.
