Lunchtime. Necessary funk infusion.

Hmmm. Guess that wasn't enough funk.

And all that funk put me in mind of this.

This is my favorite Isley Brothers song - thanks for posting it!

Those outfits - what were they (we) thinking??? Check this out - the song is great, but THE CLOTHES!!!

CHI-LITES "OH GIRL" - YouTube

Come on, Viv. Are you tellin' me that Fred doesn't have a 17th century composer/pirate/Liberace Vegas outfit in his closet? I've got several colors.

Vivian, thank you for that Train song. I have heard of them, but didn't know that was their song. Love the Soul II Soul, too. "What's the Meaning of Life" is the only song I ever memorized rap lyrics. :)

I haven't seen any Maze so far, though I may have missed it. We could always use some more Frankie Beverly!

One cannot ever get enough funk - but you DO know what we're waiting for, riiiiiight?

Hey, do you think this gal is a close personal friend of Randy Jackson's?

(had to get 3 mentions of Randy Jackson in one day - mission accomplished)

Sure he does, but they're packed in one of his old vaudeville trunks and stored in the basement... do you think we're animals???

Here's a great combo: Lovely Stevie Wonder song, sung by George Michael with Mary J. Blige.

I don't know if this will play for you, I could not find a youtube version, can only find this dailymotion one:

Guess I am in a more mellow mode today, hope I am not bringing a chill to the funk. :)

Is this the song? If so, I LOVE IT!!!!

Can't get the original video on Youtube anymore, it was great!

ETA: Another great duet:

Chester! I've never heard of Maze so thanks for posting that - it's fantastic! Mr. Mertz will love them so I'm going to search for more of their music.

Here's a song that you (and KCL) might like:

Thank you for finding that YouTube version of "As", Vivi!

Only thing better about the daily motion one for any George/Mary J fans, is you get to the real music video with them dancing. And they are both so fine it is worth a look.

And I know the "One in a Million You" song very well, just never knew who sang it!

I was afraid to click that link because I didn't know it - once got the dreaded Blue Screen of Death by clicking on something (not here). You're right, the video is very clever and really gets you into the spirit of their singing.

As for Larry Graham, who knew? I always liked his voice when he was with Sly, but I had no idea that he could carry such a great ballad. Since tomorrow is May 1 that means it's almost time for:

Aha! Did not know that Larry Graham was in the family Stone. I've learned so much from this thread. :)

Taking a sharp turn from Soulful Sounds to CBGB Land, here's a parody from the vault that I didn't post because I wasn't sure if there were any Ramones fans out there, but now I suspect there may be.

I'll post the original first so you can scroll on by the parody part; it's kind of mean (as I am wont to be):

The Ramones - I Wanna Be Sedated MP3 Clear. - YouTube

Twenty twenty twenty four hours to go
You're gonna be negated
Nothin' to do, nowhere to go, oh
You're gonna be negated
Just get you to the cold room, put you on a slab
Hurry hurry hurry, before you start to blab
We can't control our hatred, you're gonna feel a jab
Ha ha ha ha ha

Twenty twenty twenty four hours to go
You're gonna be negated
Nothin' to do, nowhere to go, oh
You're gonna be negated
Just put you on a gurney, get you out of sight
Hurry hurry hurry, they're gonna do what's right
You can't control the outcome, you can't control your plight
Ha ha ha ha ha

Twenty twenty twenty four hours to go
You're gonna be negated
Nothin' to do, nowhere to go, oh
You're gonna be negated
Just put the needle in you, quit puttin' on a show
Hurry hurry hurry, before we start to blow
We can't control our fury, so you just have to go
Ha ha ha ha ha

Twenty twenty twenty four hours to go
You're gonna be negated
Nothin' to do, nowhere to go, oh
You're gonna be negated
Just put you in a pine box, smaller than your cell
Hurry hurry hurry and go on straight to hell
We can't control our pleasure that Justice went so well
Ha ha ha ha ha

Ba ba ba-ba, ba ba ba ba-ba, you're gonna be negated
Ba ba ba-ba, ba ba ba ba-ba, you're gonna be negated
Ba ba ba-ba, ba ba ba ba-ba, you're gonna be negated
(repeat as often as you like)

Hi guys, I.ve been busy and haven't posted anywhere around the forum the last few days, until now. Vivian, I love this song. If Nurmi does the questioning tomorrow, I am gonna want to be sedated. Heck I think I want to be sedated even if Wilmong does it. Juans voice is going to have to wake me up.

Happy "surrrrrrrrrrrrr-rebutal" Eve everybody!!!

:eek:kay:
