Hi Dmacky, I have been worried also. Many members live in Texas also. But! by all means lets keep sending money to Countries overseas.. The people in these States will need help beyond insurance companies. :tears:

To all dear Sidebarians who post fun facts, helpful links and great vids and photos...please keep it up! I depend on you to keep my gray matter from turning to sludge. :) This thread is pretty much my first and last stop every day on the interwebs superhighway, so I look forward to all the goodies. Plus, keeping in touch with The Best Peeps on Earth. There is that. ;)

TODAY IS THE DAY.... I must step my foot into Wal Mart!! That store is one store I wish I could avoid, but, I have put off and put off going into the 'pit'. Just some things I must buy at Wal Mart. No other store around I can get it from unless I drive 30 miles from here.

Wish me luck and hopefully... I will not turn up on the 'People from Wal Mart" site!

I'll keep an eye out for the webpage for you! I used to feel the same about Walmart-but sometimes you just have to go where its the cheapest!---:gaah:

Good Morning, Y'all !

Just checking in to see if anything is new ... what's going on ... and how is everyone doing !

Hey everyone, Good morning :-) I hope everyone is doing better, I sure do miss coming here and reading all the time like used before Benji. So yesterday I took my little Benji to the Vet. He weighs 14 lbs, one lb less than Miss Molly, he's taller than Miss Molly, he's 3 months old. Dr. B says she thinks he's Shepard (not lab)and Terrier mix. She says he'll weigh about 30+ lbs, and be pretty tall :/ I love Shepards, we used to have one many many moons. So are Labs, either way Benji' is here to stay. I hope you all have a peaceful day.

After spending $206.00...made it out of the pit!! Hopefully, not another trip for about 2 1/2 - 3 months! I usually do my household goods shopping at The General Dollar store or Fred's when needed, I usually find good prices there and only 6 mins away :)

Wal Mart IS NOT the cheapest place round here! All we have is Wal Mart for a big super store. When I do go, I stock up on what we need from there.

Much as I dislike the crowd that patronizes Walmart, we don't have much money and occasionally I do find something decent there. Mostly I go to Walmart to buy my groceries. Their markets are much cheaper than Safeway and Lucky's, so I do most of my bulk shopping there.

Good luck. I am one of the oddballs that actually likes Walmart.

Sometimes, it's just cheaper to buy online. Usually there's a "free shipping" on orders over $50 at most places, and between that, your gas and time, it might be worth it.

I usually pull the semi annual online shopping for bulk sundries, vitamins, cleaning products, horse stuff, etc. I'll have 4-5 tabs open for different "stores", compare prices, look at clearance, BOGO, 1/2 price deals (check reviews if the product is unknown to me) and buy the "cart" with the cheapest total. I also have Ebates and memberships with free shipping and "cash back" at several places. Walmart, Costco, Amazon, and Overstock can be sketchy as far as low prices, you REALLY have to compare prices.

I used to get clothing from Victoria's Secret because the quality was good and the clothes fit, but they've gone down with quality, the sizes go all over the place, and up with prices. Now it's all about hitting American Eagle Outfitters, the quality is far, far better, prices at full price are cheaper than VS, size is spot on, and their clearances offer +50% off the total....which is a total deal. You just have to remember that I live in T's and Levis.

The one thing that bums me out about clothes, is Levis, good old 501, Shrink-to-Fit. Used to be able to find my size at Sears in the young men's section, 27 x 34. Dirt cheap. Now, Levi doesn't make that size in 501 StF anymore. They have women's 501's that are expensive, $148.00!!!!!! Finally found what they call Boyfriend Levis, $88.00 (but I wait for the 40-50% off) already faded and broke in (hey, that's half the fun! Grrrr!) in 25 x 32 that fit like they should. Still, with the discounts, it chaps my hide because I'm not going to get a year out of them before the knees go out or I get snagged in a piece of barbed wire. Seriously, I'm not trying to make a "fashion statement" with 501's, it's all about comfort and durability, gah!

The BF says I'm a frugal shopper, which is good, because he isn't, lol! He really dodged a bullet when he hooked up with me. His ex liked shopping on Rodeo Drive. I pretty much grew out of that mindset by the time I was 27.

I'm an "easy keeper", lol!

Are those of here here who are getting the massive rains doing OK? Neesaki and Pages ...... anyone else? How are your fur babies managing? Potty time must be awful for them.

Please stay safe, my peeps, and keep us posted. Is there a thread where the Texas rains/flooding are being discussed?

We're fine here, thanks for asking Spellbound.:). Just have the lake up in our backyard again, oh well. Considering the bad flooding in some areas we feel very fortunate.

Coffeej, I enjoy your posts, entertaining and informative. I'm going to make a point to start increasing my celery consumption:D

Phew! I was beginning to worry, neesaki. Fingers crossed tightly that your lake stays away from the house. Once it creeps up the backyard, it can be worrisome. Rain, rain, go away!

oh - one more thing! :)

John Wayne aka Marion Robert Morrison would have been 108 years old today!
(He was a client at my Dad's veterinarian clinic, or his dog was!) :D

:Happybirthday:

And do you know who John Wayne's Lil brother was? Mission Impossible's own Peter Graves

I thought Peter Graves and James Arness (TV's Matt Dillon of Gunsmoke) were brothers?

But speaking of Mission Impossible, that was such a good show, with a killer theme song!

Good luck. I am one of the oddballs that actually likes Walmart.

We didn't have a Walmart in our city until 1991,and it was the biggest thing since sliced bread. And it's was in a Dallas suburb. So, when we built the cabin we'd stop in Sulpher Springs where they had a Super Walmart, and stock up for the weekend. Or we could go to Mt. Pleasant to theirS the next morning. Then they super sized the Walmart in Gilmer, Longview, and Minolta (dang auto correct) ,and finally the one in our city. What was once cool because you shopped in one place, has become to big. Thank God for cellphones. DH and I had walked back and forth looking for each other all over the store. But then we became grandparents and dh started doing all the shopping. I haven't missed it. I was in our Walmart last week for the first time in over six months. Of course it was three in the morning, where you don't have family gatherings in the middle of the aisle, and children laying on the floor crying and their parents clueless. I love shopping for fresh veggies at Fiesta down the street. All fresh up from the valley and cheap. Leaf lettuce hags been 99 cents for years.

I do buy a lot of things online...maybe I will start doing the semi annual shopping online. I despise shopping, even going grocery store! I buy all Birthdays gift for the family online after Christmas (good online sales) and I buy Christmas on Cyber Monday.

The way I see shopping is...it's a total waste of my time & energy! Think about it; you pick it up, put it in your cart, you take it out of your cart, put it up on check out counter. Then you bag it, put it in your cart, take it out of the cart, put it in your car. Go home...take it from the car, carry into the house, and put it all away!!!

I have picked up each item somewhere around 10 times :gaah:

PS:
I love my UPS and FED X drivers....door delivery :)

I hate shopping, too. The bigger the store, the more I hate it. There are some big (football field size) grocery stores around me, but I prefer the smaller, older ones.

I know there are some Walmarts & Costcos somewhere around here--out in the suburbs--but I've never thought it worth my time to venture that far out of my comfort zone.

Probably more about my shortcomings than the stores themselves. I get so sensory-overloaded with big enclosed spaces. Weirds me out. I'd rather do stuff online...
