I guess I just can't get over the fact that it is apparently ok to publish any old thing you want to - even something as defamatory as this! With no proof, no sources stated etc.

I'm totally ashamed of the state of what passes for journalism in this country!

It isn't defamatory--as a matter of law, I mean.

Just the same as it is not defamatory for me to say that the author of that article is probably a slimeball, based on my professional opinion dealing with lots of slimeballs who pretty much act just like him.

If I remember correctly, not only were the cell phone records admitted, but Casey's photobucket account, and Cindy and George's work records. I think the prosecution trusted that they would look over all the evidence admitted and work as hard as some of the people here at Webslueths have in order to put everything together. Unfortunately, these jurors didn't even ask to see these documents.

They wouldn't have had to ask--the documents would have been right there in the room with them.

If this case isn't a classic example of why you should never think you can rely on a jury to actually examine the evidence then I don't know what is! I strongly believe the prosecution should have laid it all out and explained it clearly for the jury - not saying it would have made a difference with this particular bunch - but it would have been better procedure for the prosecution to have handled it that way.

Yes ... they needed to 'dumb it down' like JB did with whiteboards and colored pens and props.

Make it interactive like a game show so that the Jury can be involved and not switch off.

The prosecution case was too dry ... as in too cut and dried in your face obvious. Even Defense talking heads were changing their tune with a ... Roh, roh! She is toast.

Wait a minute, are you referring to the statement that George stole panties - that isn't defamatory?

You're saying that you can make up any lie you wish about a person, launch it to the public and it isn't defamatory? :waitasec:

No, but what did he actually say? Didn't he say that a source told him George stole some panties, etc.? Could be true. (Could also be true that George stole panties in high school--I knew some boys who did that in high school myself, and I would never jump to the conclusion that they therefore became pedophiles.)

That Ablow guy said some other off the wall stuff recently, IIRC. I remember seeing him on Fox and he was ranting and raving about Chaz Bono being on Dancing With the Stars. And he was saying that it was dangerous to allow children to watch the show because it might make them interested in becoming 'transgender' themselves. I remember thinking how ridiculous that sounded to me.

My bet is she is still there. If the blinds are open she's gone....if they are continually closed bet she is still there. Why would they be putting those no trespassing signs back up if there is nothing to hide??? It would be interesting to see who shows up for church service on Sunday, lol, to check out the new rug, of course. jmo

Not sorry he's gone. Saves the state time & money etc and I can't say I'm sorry about that. I'm glad no taxpayers have to support his lifetime behind bars!

BUT this is VERY bad for whatever agency was supposed to have him under their watch. Something like this should NEVER happen. Having to go through a trial that publicly proves your guilt is part of the punishment for being a sick monster IMHO so I am really disappointed that justice was now denied in this case.

BBM

Justice wasn't denied as regards to not being a trial. There wasn't going to be a trial, he pleaded guilty this week to all charges and got sentenced to LWOP.

They didn't even take their note books with them or ask for them!!!! :banghead:

They were done with this and it was time to make a safe quickie verdict and go home. They could not connect the dots...

Love you on WS radio.

Where’s Casey Anthony? It’s no use asking Jose Baez

http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/en...asey-anthony-its-no-use-asking-jose-baez.html

I'm curious, though, if Baez involvement with the case ended with the sentencing, then why is Lyons still apparently involved? Doesn't he work for Baez? The whole thing is just very confusing...probably their intent. IMO

He is a private investigative firm. He is not an employee of the law firm otherwise the state would have never paid him because he would have been considered "overhead". jmo

Ahh. Thanks. I've just seen him on Baez website as his investigator and thought he worked for Baez firm.

I was referring to the one who made the original accusation. You know, the one who doesn't enjoy the privilege of the Shield Law?

Even the drawing of the little girl looking up at the teddy bear hanging from a noose was admitted as part of her photobucket account and they never even looked at it. It makes me want to spit nails that they were so lazy as to not go over every single piece of evidence. I maybe could accept the verdict a little more if they had put some effort into it... but they didn't. They simply didn't care. :banghead:

So I have a question then - since Ablow states that George stole some girl's panties and that he had to leave the school as a result and if that could be proven to be a false statement then wouldn't George have a case against him? If it wouldn't be defamation what would it be?

Just curious as to how these things work on a legal plane rather than just a moral or ethical one.

The infamous 12 spent more time wistfully gazing out their hotel window complaining about not being able to use the pool, "we have a pretzel craving in the break room", "we want to watch the game!", and "what's for dinner?" - than they did dedicating themselves to Caylee's justice.

It was as if they were completely inconvenienced by an innocent baby's murder....

From Hal's blog - the quote below by Cheney Mason seems to be a shout out to Baez to me. In fact, I am thinking CM used In Session to give Baez the official news that you are done, your client has dismissed you, stop talking on her behalf. JMO.

It doesn’t sound as if Mason will be calling. He told Casarez: “No one with any authority is attempting to promote Casey Anthony … They are unsolicited and doing it on their own.”
