Forensic testing reveals human remains found in Coffs Harbour belong to woman in her 50s

Websleuthers were able to come up with some vital clues and help crack the case of Karlie Peace-Stevenson and her daughter Khandalyce Pearce (the baby in the suitcase in South Australia) a few years ago. Let's see if we can help solve this one too.

Quote from the police chief in the article (ABC News):

"We have managed to obtain DNA evidence. We're now putting that information out across Australia to see if there are any matches there," she said.
"In NSW we haven't been able to link her to any other missing person."

Superintendent Schultz said personal items discovered at the scene, including silver earings, hairclips, a backpack, and copy of the paperback book The Butterfly Summer, would help the search to identity the deceased.

"That is the picture we've got of this person," she said.

"It might trigger something for somebody, they might remember something.

"We're just asking the community to search their memories, if they were in the area around that time, sometime between 2021 and 2023 and potentially saw somebody."

I saw this article then came straight here to check if someone had made a post already. Seems like its really up Websleuthers' collective alley. I hope someone is able to identify this woman!

Ellen Wilson went missing in 2015 and was known to frequent that general area, though I suspect police may have already ruled her out if they've looked into missing persons cases. Unfortunately there isn't much info provided on either case so very difficult

More details here.

I read this while I was having coffee with someone and had to restrain myself from getting out my phone to make a post here.
I am proud of my restraint :)

And I'm so glad that a post was made here.

Her remains were dressed in a Bras N Things-branded singlet top and blue denim jeans.

A police search of the area where her body was found had unearthed items of interest including silver earrings, hair clips, a Target-branded blue and white striped button-up shirt, a Harvey World Travel backpack, a Laura Jones wallet, reading glasses and a paperback copy of the novel The Butterfly Summer.
