Love it! :)

From this evening to tomorrow evening is St. Brigid's Day in Ireland.

For many people, tomorrow is Groundhog's Day. In the Groundhog's Day story, the Groundhog is looking for his shadow as a sign of Spring.

Well, that's a corruption of St. Brigid's Day.

Brigid is like the year, she begins as a young girl in the Spring, grows through childbirth in summer, brings the harvest in autumn, and her croning brings Winter, as she enters the Mountain.

She emerges on her Day, causing Spring to begin.

The animal is actually Badger and Badger is looking for Brigid because Brigid brings springtime!

Such a blessing to be Irish!

PUNXSUTAWNEY PHIL SAW HIS SHADOW TODAY
in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania
(We Will Have Six More Weeks of Winter)

According to an old German legend, if a groundhog sees his shadow on Feb. 2, winter will last another six weeks. If not, spring comes early. (The pseudo-holiday originally started as badger day in European folklore, but German immigrants in Pennsylvania couldn’t find badgers, so they started using groundhogs.)

He is so adorable! Ever since I saw the movie "Groundhog Day", I have wanted to visit Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania! That should be on my bucket list -- but I need a bigger bucket (at my age)!
