Some police/fire depts start billing accident victims

after having a seizure my ex boyfriend called 911. Although we had a car, he did not have a license, we lived 2 blocks from the hospital. When the paramedics arrived, I was answering questions fine, had a headache, so they took me to the hospital, saying the fall probably caused a concussion. $355.00 for two blocks Just the ambulance. No meds, not a band aide? It would have been cheaper to pay a ticket and have him drive. it's insane! not to mention with no insurance lol well I had a payment plan for 2 hours observation. It's just frustrating. I know I need to pay for the ambulance, i'm not opposed. I needed a service, they provided it. I had no meds, and two blocks away, and there went a car payment. I couldn't imagine having something happen not even because of me or anything I did and then getting a bill. I would be so angry!

my daughter had her first seizure back in December and we called 911. Our ambulance bill was $700! and we have insurance! ba$tards deemed it too low of an emergency to cover more than a quarter of it or something. i was so insulted, here's my baby having this happen to her and me with no idea how to handle it or how long it would last, and that's not considered an emergency!? so crazy...luckily we didn't get billed from the fire dept, who by the way was there a full ten minutes by the time the ambulance got there. i should have just told them to go away, but i was scared and didn't want to drive her myself not knowing what was going to happen....
