Around one hundred emergency responders have raced to the scene of the incident, identified locally as a beach bar in Playa de Palma called the Medusa Beach Club.
A terrace of the two-storey building, located on Cartago Street, is believed to have collapsed through 'to the basement' of the building, leaving only the façade still standing, according to local media.'
Local media reported the three women and one man made up the deceased, and that two of them worked at the club. Several tourists reportedly tried to enter the premises because they suspected friends were inside.
''The bar is understood to be popular with British and German tourists, although details on the identities of those affected remain scarce. The Foreign Office tonight told the Telegraph that there are no reports that British nationals were involved in the incident.''
