I'm absolutely devastated by this news. I've been crazy about him since I saw audition for So You Think You Can Dance a decade ago.

THIS FLOORED ME! It seemed he was so full of life and happiness no matter what i saw him in.. Ellen, YouTube, commercials, him and his wife and kids.. This is so heartbreaking. TMZ reported he left his house by foot, got a hotel room and shot himself but its still under investigation.. I just cant seem to fathom him doing that. IMO

Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss, the longtime DJ on Ellen DeGeneres’ talk show, has died, according to his wife and a representative.

He was 40.

The representative said Boss died by suicide without sharing further details. NBC News has reached out to the Los Angeles Police Department and the coroner for comment...

from day 1 on SYTYCD, I have followed his career. WOW, I am shook.

We have got to do better with mental illness and all it encompasses in this world. So so sad for those who loved this man. He no longer suffers but they do... ugh... his kids... glad this is not being sugar-coated from the get go and we know the COD and MOD.

Too late to edit my post but I should have phrased that as "mental health" not "mental illness". We need to talk about and normalize conversations and treatments for our good mental health like we do physical health. IMO

He was also on Star Search. His dance career was impressive, his moves were original and it felt good to watch him dance. Pure joy. Such a loss, he must have been in such pain.

I try to find a silver lining in everything but this is so hard. I suppose it's once again bringing up the important topic of mental health for those among us who are suffering from it.

Montgomery native Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss’ death brings mental health awareness into focus

Stephen “tWitch” Boss shared an uplifting message about overcoming hardships five years before he tragically died by suicide.

“It’s a constant work in progress,” the former “Ellen” show DJ said in an episode of the “Aubrey Marcus Podcast” in 2017.

“You will make decisions that might seem right at the time but then they’re not. For me, it just helps to know that it keeps going — it does, no matter what — even if something seems very devastating like there’s some kind of force that’s going to keep going and it’s there for you to naturally access.”

“I’m 35 years old, I am a father of two, I’m a husband, so it’s just like I have so many lives other than my own that I have to take account for in my choices, my actions, and all of that,” he said at the time.

Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss once spoke on overcoming hardships: Life ‘keeps going’

Me too. I am so devastated and sad and confused. He was a light in this world and now that is forever gone. He was such a joy to watch and follow all these years. The world is worse off with him gone. I just cannot reconcile this. 24 hours before he did this he was posting a funny dance video with her wife and child. What triggered this?! I have so many questions :(

I’ve watched him from the very beginning too. I’ve been crying off and on all day just thinking about it. My heart aches and breaks for him and his family. Of all the deaths over the year this one really hits me hard. He comes to our local dance conventions and he’s just the sweetest. I am so not ok with this. It has to be a joke? A prank? Right?!

I've watched this a few times now. It's hard to imagine it was just a few days prior to him taking his life. They look like they were having such fun.

It makes me wonder if she was aware and wanted to lift his spirits in this particular post or if he totally kept it from her.

We hear it often “no one had a clue” but being as this was right before, it makes it harder to comprehend.

Not only that but their 9th anniversary was on 12/10. The article below is painting him as happy the days before. It just feels odd if you factor in things listed in the article:

I can't imagine going from as happy as it appears they were, to doing what he did. It just does not make any sense to me, ya know?

It really doesn’t. The article says she frantically contacted the police because his car was at home and that he never left the house without his car. Maybe she knew something that he was concerned about.

From all appearances they did look very happy, the kind of marriage that you would feel safe in sharing your deepest struggles.

I’m wondering if his financial situation changed drastically after Ellen terminated the show. He had to be making a generous income there. I didn’t realize she had made him a partner in the company in 2020.
