That's what I was basing my statement on, too. Patsy herself claimed this was the first time they'd be there for winter. Which means all their clothes in Michigan would have been summer clothing. And anyone who's been in Michigan in winter can tell you that wouldn't work. It's COLD there.

Also...kids clothing sizes change at least annually at their ages.

They heard only evidence from Kane. And a grand jury doesn't convict anyone. They just recommend more investigation

Are you serious? A GJ issued true bills calling for the Ramseys' indictment. Not just investigation - they were already being investigated. To indict means to bring formal charges against someone and take them to trial.

Yes, attacking people's responses without offering counter evidence is perfectly fine. It is called skepticism and is completely valid and appropriate. This CBS special upset me because it seemed there were no skeptics among the specialists. Granted the show had to be edited and they may have cut out such skepticism, but then the editing is poor as it makes all of the specialists all look like they had their minds made up a long time ago and were not going to budge on their beliefs regarding the case.

I would like Brendon to have been there in the room, not as an expert, but as a skeptic to poke holes in theories and opinions.

5 gold stars for you, Brendon, for being level headed.

I have to agree, Brendon is correct is saying there is 0 evidence proving the RDI. It is all pretty circumstantial. But, the blinders are definitely on there, which is why people are getting annoyed.

Up until the CBS, I did not believe BDI either because I always thought he was too young.

I have a couple questions that someone here might have insight into. What grade was Burke in school?

Also did the Ramseys send out an annual Christmas letter? JR's company hit a billion dollars, JonBenet pageants, PR's 40th birthday party in advance, etc. What would have been said about Burke? What types of things did he do besides Nintendo?

Oh I noticed today that Burke is now on Wikipedia . I didn't see that before is it because as some said appearing on DP made him.a public figure for the first time?

Thanks in advance if anyone can elaborate.

I do think that there was an annual Christmas letter... was it 1996 or a previous year where PR included "and hence" in the R Christmas letter??exactly the same phrase in the RN

Wow .. I can't seem.to find the Wikipedia now. I wish I would have screenshot it. It is gone.

Did anyone save a screenshot? It is definitely gone. It was online around 7 hours ago. I was googling things at lunch time in the Midwest.

Actually, a grand jury determines if there is enough cause to proceed with prosecution of a case. Google it.

The original poster didn't say 'convict'. They said 'heard enough to convince them'.

A grand jury can do far more than recommend more investigation. They can bring an indictment. Which they did.

As a grand juror you will be asked to decide whether a person should be charged with a crime (“indicted”).The role of a grand jury is to investigate and make recommendations concerning possible criminal offenses and then return charges in the form of an indictment known as a “true bill.”

They only heard evidence from Kane?

Eight women and four men convened regularly over 13 months. They heard from dozens of witnesses, considered 30,000 pieces of evidence. All of it was with one question in mind: Who was responsible for 6-year-old JonBenet Ramsey’s death?

Respectfully, please provide supporting links for the assertions in your posts, as to this point, they don't appear to be based in any facts which have been presented (and linked) in this case.

I had a thought regarding Alex Hunter's refusal to allow a warrant for the Ramsey telephone records: perhaps they had called Hunter to discuss "politics".

Did the CBS special state that 2 practice notes were found?

I know how a grand jury works. They heard evidence from Kane and I think the case should have gone further.

BBM ~ I would think so, but now that I think about it, there would also be some bruising around the wounds. However, if she died not too long after being jabbed by a train track, there would be no bruising?

or no build up of blood if the skin had been punctured?

No, that is not what they do- they vote a 'True Bill' or not. They voted to indict both the Ramseys for felony child abuse resulting in her death and hindering the investigation in order to help the person who killed her. IMO the only other person being BR.

Yes, a true bill is a vote to indict, which means to bring the case to trial. A grand jury only hears one side of the evidence. I'm not sure what we are disagreeing on?

There is some evidence that might point toward the Ramseys. The ransom note needs explaining, for instance. Why they did not wake up when JB was taken from her bedroom (how close is her room to her parents?). Who's idea was it to ring the police since the ransom note specifically said not to under threat of death for JB.

But there is nothing connecting them to her killing - except theories - with next to no evidence.

I have already asked how it was that the parents stayed up for nearly 40 hours and no-one mentioned their condition at that time. People who think they did it, just don't want to look at these inconvenient flaws in telling the story. John and Patsy would have been paranoid Burke Ramsey would say something. Yet they sent him to a neighbors in the morning. Doesn't follow. Doesn't make sense. Having the narrow window as the only entry and exit. Why? Didn't the Ramsey house have any doors? This is ignored. The pineapple. I couldn't make out the picture on it's own. Looked like apples or pear pieces to me. Burke was looking intently at that pic trying to figure it out, not avoiding it. Burke was not with us watching the show prior to seeing the pic having it all explained to him by the forensics people. Like we were. Get it? We were manipulated as viewers. We were set up on that. Remember the woman said he was suspicious about it, and why did he avoid saying it was THE PINEAPPLES. Straight after we had it all explained to us. If I were him, I wouldn't have clearly known what the pic was either. They were dishonestly tricking the viewer. jmo

Just stuff like that.
Oh boy, do I agree with you on that one! I've looked at that picture, even at different angles and I couldn't describe what it was, definitely can not see pineapple. If this is all that hangs on Burke being the guilty party, no wonder this won't get anywhere.

I'm in the Patsy/John did it camp and the other covered but even still, I'm open to other theories but Burke, no way! Nothing in that documentary convinced me he did anything out of the ordinary for a 9/10 yr old kid.

I was appalled by the producers of this documentary using a child to re-enact the bashing of a little girls head! They will stop at nothing for ratings, and they had the audacity to critique Burke demonstrating how he thought a murder might be committed, how will the child who acted it out demonstrate the same thing in the future?! Potential murderer? Ohh, please! JMO

Totally agree. Shame on CBS for airing this nonsense. I can't even imagine if my son was accused and persecuted all these years and on this program with shoddy "evidence".

Why would anyone lie about this? They were only going to be there for a day or two. We wouldn't pack for a short trip on our private plane.

Because Patsy said she went home, put Jonbenet to bed and went to sleep, rather than staying up and packing for their trip. If she was indeed packing for their trip (and please note that they were going on a Disney cruise immediately afterward, not just spending a couple days in Michigan--were they planning to just buy all new clothes for that?), she would have been awake that night, rather than asleep as she claimed.

ETA: my apologies. Apparently they were flying out of Denver for the Disney trip, but Patsy herself stated she wouldn't have time to pack before they had to leave, since they were flying commercial.
