Byrne says if the jury thinks Gerard's evidence is credible and reliable, they have to find him not guilty of murder. #badenclay

his best advice yet

Not a BC.

Poor Allison. So tortured by her new nephew's arrival that she never once addressed anticipating it in her private journal, so twisted by longing to carry on the family name that she killed herself over the birth of a boy who would carry on the celebrated family name; a descendant of the famous Baden Powell through a female line.

Or, poppycock.

Poppycock indeed.

This is maybe why OW changed her surname to Baden-Walton, so her son could carry through the Baden name? That whole Baden name thing is so weird to me. I wouldn't blame Allison's girls if they change their surname as soon as legally possible.

9:45am: The 16th day of the trial is about to resume in Court 11.

Gerard Baden-Clay's defence barrister Michael Byrne QC will end his closing address to the jury, before Crown prosecutor Todd Fuller QC begins his final address today.

Yesterday ...

* Mr Byrne said there are too many gaps in the Crown's circumstantial case against his client. He pointed to the lack of forensic evidence linking Mr Baden-Clay to the crime scene at Kholo Creek where his wife's body was found. He also pointed to the lack of blood in the house and car port.

* Mr Byrne conceded Mr Baden-Clay had been a serial adulterer during his marriage but said his infidelity did not amount to evidence in the case against him.

* The defence again pointed to Mrs Baden-Clay's history with depression to suggest she stepped out for a walk in the early hours of the morning of April 20, 2012, to "clear her head" and "at some time and for some reason" ended up in the river.

9:55am: The trial will again be broadcast into two other courtrooms, such is the high level of public interest in the case.

The proceedings will be broadcast into the Banco Court which seats 147 people.

But the deception was limited to affairs - defence #badenclay

Byrne says Gerard has denied killing his wife, denied dumping her body, denied leaving his girls home alone to do so. #badenclay

Byrne says if they think his evidence was not convincing, but left them in doubt as to what happened, he is still not guilty. #badenclay

*insert sarcastic font here* Denied loving TM, denied giving her a date whereby he will have left his wife....oh wait

Gerard would not kill his wife in cold blood, temper would not explode, no history of that in his life - defence #badenclay

10:12am: Mr Byrne displayed two PowerPoint slides to the court.

The first read: "Gerard Baden-Clay is presumed to be innocent. He may be convicted only if the prosecution establishes that he is guilty of the offence charged."

The second read: "If you are left with a reasonable doubt about guilty, your duty is to acquit: that is, to find Gerard Baden-Clay not guilty."

Byrne says Gerard's only deception related to not broadcasting his "straying" particularly from his wife. #badenclay

Byrne: He admitted all of that and you saw him speak to that. #badenclay

Byrne: Gerard Baden-Clay is not a person who would cold bloodedly kill his wife and mother of his children.

Byrne says Gerard is not the type of person to explode in temper. #badenclay

Byrne says apart from Allison "slipping" back into depression and the birth of her male nephew, things were as they always were. #badenclay

Byrne is urging the jury to pay attention to the details. #badenclay

Kate Kyriacou @KateKyriacou · 11s

Byrne is urging the jury to think of the scenario of waking up to find their partner gone in their own lives. #badenclay

More and more desperation of clutching at the straws, abusing the law...

pleading with the jury... sickening stuff.

Likewise Allison had no history of self harm.

If you are left with a reasonable doubt it's your duty to acquit - defence #badenclay

there is bound to be some doubt remaining...but is this doubt "reasonable"? That is the question.

Kate Kyriacou @KateKyriacou · 43s

Byrne is detailing the phone calls Gerard made to police, to family and friends. #badenclay

Byrne says this is not a person who is hiding, who violently murdered his wife the night before. #badenclay

Byrne says they should consider one piece of evidence - Gerard telling Toni to tell police the truth. #badenclay

Byrne says that is not someone who has just violently killed his wife. #badenclay

Byrne says there are two possibilities. One is Gerard murdered his wife and dumped her body. #badenclay

Byrne says second is Gerard was worried about his wife and expected her to be found at any moment. #badenclay

Byrne says it is telling that Gerard on the morning of April 20 told police about the affair. #badenclay

Byrne: If she was dead, and he knew she was dead, why would he care? Says Gerard had asked dad and sister to leave room. #badenclay

Byrne says the jury must deliver a unanimous verdict. #badenclay
