Great point, but "sole" custody?The mama's got to be real real bad for that. OR is that customary if the kids choose one parent? Anyone know?

I think the norm when the children are old enough to choose who they want to live with is primary physical custody to one parent and joint legal custody to both parents.
In other words, both parents make the major decisions in the children's lives even though thechildren live with one parent and have visitation with the other parent.
It sounds like he gets to make all the decisions (schooling, medical care, etc.) without any input from his ex. That is unusual.
