Nancy finally lost the little girl barrette tonight. Maybe she isn't letting her little daughter dress her anymore :giggle:.

Wait, BK just said that one of the defense witnesses is most likely going to claim that JA suffered from PTSD after killing Travis. Well of course she is, but how can that be? I thought the jury asked JA if she had been diagnosed or sought medical treatment for a medical/mental condition. JA answered no. Wouldn't PTSD fall under the mental health category?

The old definition of chutzpah is killing your parents and then throwing yourself on the mercy of the court because you are an orphan.

The new definition, apparently, is saying you can't remember murdering somebody because you have PTSD from when you murdered them.

I believe that the whole thing took 62 sec. is true because she had the gun and knife with her. She watched him die slowly.
Well, of course the 62 sec. is true, because the photos prove it. My point was that JA's version of events is impossible...

OK! Here's what happened:

The shelf that I put my foot on was approximately 12 inches from the ground ...
I stepped on the very edge of it while at the same time grabbing the higher shelf with my left as though I was reaching for something higher and to my right.... the back side of it tipped up and then landed back on its pegs only slightly (but definitely) disturbing the shoes on it.

Here's what I was totally NOT expecting to happen (because I suck at physics)... The shelf I grabbed with my hand SLID out towards me really fast and cleared the back peg platforms and fell down between the 4 pegs and the shoes landed on the shelf below it!!!

I tried to quote you on the last thread but the thread closed. I was going to warn you NOT to do this experiment since I did it in real life and the outcome wasn't good. At least you were prepared by WS members and Mr. Martinez. JA's version of events is not possible. I'm sure most of the jurors have had these types of shelves in their lives and will know it's impossible to climb these types of shelves. Thanks for taking one for the team. :rocker:

Regarding the stepping onto the shelf rated for 40 lbs., a person with a body weight of 125 lbs (according to JA) at the time, while running for her life and leaping onto a shelf, would exert a force of from 4x and up to 7x her body weight. i.e., the force on the shelf would have to withstand from 500 lbs. on the low end, and up to 875 lbs.

Force on a Runner's Foot

:goodpost:

I vote we add a couple more:

8) after 18 loooong days, the DT has established exactly ZERO to suggest self defense

and

9) hearing JM use the F word causes massive intermittent tingling sensations in the extremities. :D
Great post! Make:seeya:s lots of sense to me

Lol..I caught that too, looks like our little Nancy is becoming a woman!

Exactly. So let everyone do what they have to do to make sure this does not happen.

As others have said, this is a Death Penalty trial. If JA is sentenced to death, there is an automatic appeal (and there will prolly be an appeal if she is sentenced to LWOP).

Did I miss hear something today??? I thought I heard Jodi say she heard the knife drop and then she went into a fog???? I thought she said previous she went into a fog after the gun went off???? A bad day for me for the trial on top- of late start sound problems,HLN coverage my cable kept going out

It would for anyone else but for jodi the answer will always be a lie or i dont know. the expert didnt have to examine her personally (think of casey anthony "grief expert") to state her actions are consistant with ptsd...basically backing up her self serving lies.

Jody Arias goes to her bishop AFTER the murder and admits the sex. So now she's in the process of repentence without confessing that SHE MURDERED SOMEONE!

This reveals part of her motive, which was to restore her good name and smear Travis' because he threatened to expose her for the beeyotch *advertiser censored* thief? that she is. She fully intended to keep this murder secret forever.

If she went back to the bishop and told him that she murdered someone after she confessed that she slept with him--and didn't tell him that--she would be excommunicated.

I am sure she fooled the bishop, crying and carrying on that she didn't want to do the nasty but he made her and now he's dead and he was so wonderful, kind, lit up a room...I'm sue the bishop felt sorry for her almost-widowhood and just put her on probation.

What a monster.

bbm: Is that true, that she confessed her "transgressions" to the bishop? Talking to your bishop is like talking to your attorney...privileged information. Seriously, if Jodi's lips are moving, she's lying.

I wonder if Nurmi will start his questioning of expert witnesses with, "So, how would you describe your childhood?"
Trust me he will manage to throw in some sex in there :floorlaugh:

LOL I had my boyfriend stand behind me with his hands on my waist. I would likely have fallen on my arse if he wasn't there!

Is it a classic sign of "battered woman syndrome" to fantasize about being ravished by the boyfriend who previously raped her? Is it typical for such women to write in their private journals about enthusiastically acting out their sexual fantasies with the abusers who raped them previously (anally raped on her baptism but later talks about how she and Travis fulfilled each others naughty fantasies together and expresses how much she loves him)?

You and I would say no way. But the DV expert? I think they'll say anything. Hopefully this will be like that other case (Mark Jensen?) where the prosecution asked the expert on the stand if he knew about this lie & that lie & this other lie -- would that change his opinion? The expert said it would.

I'm a newbie here, so...sorry if I'm out of line, but for those who believe JM did not score some severely major points today, I have to respectfully disagree. First, cross examination is about keeping the witness unstable and off-guard; the whole point is to not let the witness prepare for her answers. So, if you noticed, JM was moving from topic to topic without any transitions...lack of organization is completely by design to keep JA off-guard. Second, cross (or in this case follow-up) is not about landing the ultimate "Perry Mason" moment. Rather, it is about gathering inconsistencies to be argued in closing argument.

So, today we learned:
1. That Jodi said last week that she thought the gun was in a holster, but today....she suddenly can't remember.
2. The 62 second timeline is impossible.
3. No reasonable person could believe that she climbed on the closet shelves without disturbing anything, or flipping one of the shelves.
4. She saw the gun three times: but, none of those times included seeing Travis "load the gun and take it with him." Today was the first time we heard this claim.
5. She remembers, crystal clear, only the events that support her self-defense claims. 6. The height of the closet will not support her version (IMO demonstrated clearly on closing).
7. She only uses Mormon doctrine when it demonstrates that Travis was a heretic.

There are more points that were made, but I thought today was the best day JM had so far. IMHO, at the end of the day, some of the subtle points of today will bite JA in the behind more than any of the obvious inconsistencies.

Please pardon the pretension of my first post, but I am an avid follower of this trial and have been a consistent lurker here!

Great post!! :Welcome1::welcome4:

It sure will not be Mike from FineWoodWorking.....
Wouldn't surprise me if he DIDNT ask if she was molested with a wooden spoon! Any excuse to talk sex Sex sex sex and more sex! I hope he lets wilma have her turn.:seeya:

Not looking forward to the "battered woman syndrome" experts taking the stand.

I think this testimony will be easy to diffuse if not completely render useless. "Ms. L. Do you base your opinion on the events as told to you by Miss Arias? If you had reason to believe that Ms. Arias had lied to you, would that change your opinion."

Honestly, I think these "experts" are going to be short and sweet and we'll move on to closing and conviction. The mitigation phase, on the other hand, is going to be a total nightmare because we're going to be subjected to an endless recitation of every. single. teeny. tiny. boo-boo that Jodi Arias ever endured. It's going to make her month of testimony look like a walk in the park.
