True - that was incredibly sad to hear.

I think Robert Anderson is right, only LISK and Amber know if she had a phone on her,
but ya know, (couldn't resist)

all LISK had to do was take out the ZIP card and the phone wouldn't work, wouldn't be traced,
ditch it somewhere that it would never be found and that's that.
 
How could she just let her sisters death go like that? How does life go on? They always use heroin as an excuse but that just doesn't explain letting family die.
I assume the police know whether Amber had a phone. From what I read, she didn't have a phone to take with her that day. Can anyone find the article that says she didn't have a phone? There is nothing that would make ALC leave her phone behind, if the killer asked her not to bring it, she would simply keep the phone turned off while on the date. Don't forget, she's getting in this guys car, how is she going to get home? He is going to come pick her up and drop her off the next day? Again I'm just flabbergasted that Dave and Kim would just let someone taking her go, it just does not make sense and i think we are missing part of the story like perhaps her disappearance involved heroin

"What happened to Amber eats at me every day," Overstreet told CNN recently. "Finding out who did this consumes me. I stay up all night doing research and trying to re-trace her last steps."
Overstreet started pumping Costello's friends for information about the day she disappeared. The details strike her as important:
Her sister's last client seemed to go to great lengths to remain anonymous. He did not want to meet at her house and for some reason he called her throughout the day.
"He called her at around 10 and said he was coming down the road and told her to walk down the street," Overstreet said. "She hung the phone up, gave it to the people she was with and walked out the door. She said, 'If my sister calls, tell her I love her.'
"She was never seen again."
Costello did not take her purse or phone to the appointment.
When Overstreet searched the phone to find the client's number, it was missing. In her search for information, Overstreet met with the families of the other victims.

So... just who is reliable in these cases??? Which news report and quote do you want to believe??? Should we rely on info from "inner circles", "exiled", "non-exiled", and/or WS member opinions??? Do we trust the words of boyfriends, pimps, and family members of the victims?? Do we trust books or novels written on the subject?? Podcasts??? Law enforcement??
 
The Nassau University Medical Center detox makes me curious. There are alot of male victims who i believe are methadone users
 
Today is my birthday and I'm a little sensitive (but I'm sure it's not noticeable) :D

While the links in some of the old posts may not be working... try using the wayback machine AND/OR google the quotes included in the posts. I know it seems futile to review the many threads here on WS, but there is truly some reliable information to be gleaned. Take all the info, as a whole, then choose what you'd like to believe. But, if bickering (uhhh, I mean discussing) one single report seems advantageous then nevermind me... and carry on!!

FWIW it's not a so much a question of posting in an inappropriate thread although of course the road to Hell is paved with good intentions. My intent was to discuss the victim's defense mechanisms and how LISK seems to get women to drop their usual protocols. We got bogged down on the phone...

But Robert, can you give examples for each girl dropping defense mechanisms? I think there is a tendency to make it sound like these always followed a safety protocol but when you do something for a while you aren't as cautious as when you first started. What safety precautions did Maureen not follow in the LISK case that she usually did? What about Melissa? Can you give any example for Melissa?

I knew your "intent". And I (for whatever value my opinion might be ;)) appreciate an attempt at a systematic approach to figuring out what happened with *the victims' possible defense mechanisms.

I've been following this case for a number of years (and some WS members have been following much longer) and I see so much rehashing of arguments we had back in 2012 (and beyond) and become frustrated over and over again.

I apologize for venting. All I can say is see post #54 again :D

In Ripperology we have been rehashing the same stuff for over 125 years.......and no signs of a let up.

The speculation (per your ripperologist-LISK podcast) about LISK possibly being a member of a male/female duo (with the female being a prostitute) makes complete sense particularly with regard to the victims' lack of (usual) defense mechanisms. (Of course, this is based on the premise that SG is not an LISK victim) I don't remember this possibility being discussed here at WS so it wouldn't be a rehashing of ideas... yay!

I'm headed out for dinner but I think this deserves more consideration and thoughts from others.

They could have popped in one of the films to create terror in her for the film and that's when she freaked out and realized that Pak set this job up for her knowing...Maybe the girls were told they were going to be working on a film with a famous person and they were not allowed to bring there phones per famous persons rule. They never imagined it would be this kind of film.That would also explain the baby and the Asian man.
