Robert, are you joking? I'm pretty sure there are no bodegas near Oak Beach. If they were going to a "bodega" I'd imagine the nearest store of this type would be in Babylon. But a 24 hour bodega that sells spice? I would bet the only 24 hour deli's in Babylon or anywhere in that area are 7-11's.

My Noo Yawker is showing. I call all kinds of newsstands, tobacco shops, head shops and delis "bodegas". All I know is something prompted a psychotic break after 4am and they had made a run obtain something around 2:30am. SG arrived at 2am and after awhile they seemingly determined they didn't have a substance one or both of them wanted. So they drove locally to get it. The time line tells us this.

It is of course possible that they turned up empty handed and she smoked something Brewer had lying around. Maybe she smoked nothing. SG was bipolar and not taking her meds. But they had clearly made an effort to get something nearby.

Brewer was game. Michael had gotten a glimpse of him earlier, when he’d come out to open the gate, and about twenty minutes after that, when Brewer and Shannan left the house in his car to run an errand. Shannan had cleared it with Michael beforehand; he assumed it was to buy drugs.

Pak appears to support this scenario.

I think the call to CVS is an important clue. It's possible Dr. Hackett wrote a prescription for an opiate like Roxy and they called to see if the CVS had it in stock.

I don't understand how Hackett factors into this at all. He would have to had written a physical script for an opioid ASSUMING he had the necessary NYS controlled substance prescription forms. Why and when would he have done this, assuming he could?

Not that anything in this case is straightforward but I think we are making things even more complicated than necessary. SG wanted baby oil, K-Y and playing cards.

Also, police would have absolutely checked what Hackett had prescribed people, what Brewer was subscribed, what scripts cvs filled etc. As well as what Hackett had access to and what was found in Brewer and Hackett's residences when searched.

Have you ever walked around Oak Beach? It's pretty small. You can walk briskly from Brewer's to Hackett's in about 15 minutes.

Shannan and Brewer went for an 18-20 minute car ride.

Let's be clear: I am not suggesting that Shannan wanted spice. I am just suggesting that at 2:20am one's options are limited in a place like OB. Clearly either she or Brewer wanted something that neither of them had. Roughly 90 minutes later SG had a psychotic break. The question is what triggered it.

We have NO way of knowing why she was in fear of her life. It absolutely could be psychosis or drug induced mania or the fa t that she was bi-polar and off her meds. All just as likely.

People see what they wish to see in this case - but considering the bad blood between that person and others at the Oak Beach community I am surprised it has been given the credence it has received.

Considering Dr Hacket has a disability and other medical problems apparently, I would not be surprised if he sold his opioids and pain pills for profit to people he knew. It happens more often than people think it does. An elderly neighbor (now deceased) of mine did it and my upstairs neighbor, who has RA, Gout and who knows what else does it all the time. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what's going on. I think it is very possible that JB and Shannan both went to hook up at Dr. H's house earlier in the morning and that's why she went to his house when she fled later. I doubt he was writing prescriptions though. Didn't Mrs. H work the night shift?

Getting pilled up to party seems to be a thing the past 10 years or so.

If he was prescribed opioids, I have no doubt the police would have investigated that avenue as well. When it was placed, when it was filled, how many remain etc.

That's a rather nasty assertion unless there is serious evidence to suggest otherwise, especially for a medical professional. And leaving this comment aside, SG's actions at 4am onwards aren't consistent with the use of an opioid. As Dr. Tumosa says, it fits more with the use of PCP or synthetic marijuana.

We don't even have evidence she EVER went to his house. The most we can hypothesize is that SG entered the bramble/marsh near Dr. Hackett's house. That is a fair assertion.

I think at 2:30am in the area around Oak Beach the pickings are slim. My personal belief is that they picked up some spice (synthetic marijuana) from a bodega near by. They weren't gone long enough to make a run to Babylon.

How slim? Maybe they went to JS house. It could be why he was so fast to throw CPH under the bus.

I'm not trying to be nasty, I am trying to make sense of this like everone else. Dr. Hackett himself played a role somehow by calling Mari with the 'alleged' story about him treating Shannan and the home for wayward girls. That is Mari's story that she recounted. There are records of the calls. Why did he do such a thing and how did he get Mari's number if he didn't interact with Shannan? He is also disabled and I infer he most likely takes medication. Pill hounds prey and befriend and use these people for their own gain.

I'm not postulating that he is responsible for Shannan's death. He seems like a friendly and sociable guy but he inserted himself in her disappearance with those calls. I will go back and check Mari's statement of their conversation but IIRC he claimed Shannan had been at his home. It may be a week or two because of other obligations so if anyone else has a link to this do jump in My opinion.
