While it is important to remember the information contained in this thread involves rumors, as with all rumors, they often contain a sliver of truth. Take the "revenge" rumor ( link ), for example. The "johns" claimed a scam involving bats and less than a week after the "revenge" report came out, ALC's roommate goes on GMA and claims she was receiving threats and that he protected her with a bat ( link ).

One thing she did say that I thought was interesting is that she says the gated part of Oak Beach is where a bunch of important Long Island people live, several of them connected to the DA's office, LE, county government executives, hospital managers, etc. Her perception is that if the killer lives there, it will never come out to the public. They take care of their own.

To be honest, I think they're all lying.

One possible scenario is... the bf/pimp + driver, regularly supply this group of single/divorced middle-aged men with call girls. And that [that] "gated community" is hiding an extremely dark secret. One that they're willing to lie for. One that involves murdering prostitutes and possibly even homeless people. A "community cleaner" if you may. Perhaps one of them has a son that's a little bit "off" ... or, he learned "things" from "dear old dad."

All things considered, this case is beginning to remind me more and more of the book, "The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo" where the rich, yet aging, family, hid their own depraved secrets. One that involved sadistic serial murder with religious overtones. Then again, that could be nothing more than my over-active imagination at work.

Whatever the case, I think the body count will continue to rise.

I agree with you there is often a sliver of truth in rumors, like the poster in an article comment who said CPH responded to her ad and she was too afraid of him to cut a deal. That sounds entirely possible to me considering the other things we have read about him.

Many posters have been requesting Rumor Threads on several cases. I don't want rumor threads on all the cases. Too much time is needed to moderate a rumor thread and it can get very weary.

It would be naive of me not to recognize the aspect of rumors in cases like Elizabeth Olten and Somer. Therefore we are going to try something different.

If you are a local and you have heard a rumor that is not ridiculous post it clearly as a rumor.

I won't check if you say you are a local. This is different than saying you know the family.

If this doesn't work out because people start relying on rumors or repeating rumors as fact we will change it back.

From Salem: In some cases, rumors are impossible to manage and get mixed up with social networking sites. As this is a different kind of case, I'm thinking that we all can responsibly handle the rumors.

I'm one of those hardliners who tend to blow off rumor and chatter by locals unless the information they provide can be verified. Having said that, I want to make a comment or two on some local chatter that has been reasonably verified by WSers.

While watching news footage of PH, many WSers noticed that PH had an unusual gait. We speculated that he may have a neurological disorder, or may in fact have been intoxicated at the time of that video taping.

Shortly after viewing that news footage, I found this link http://www.topix.com/forum/city/west-hempstead-ny/T03QTH4BS93BB90ES . Here we find several interesting comments from posters named "Sandy" and "J Glynn". J Glynn makes the comment that he or she heard that PH was being held in connection with the LI murders. Obviously, that comment had no merit, as it could never be verified. Sandy commented that, at some point in time, PH had been involved in a bad car accident. This comment interested several WSers enough to do some digging, and Hanlfa located a picture of PH that showed him wearing shorts. He does, in fact, have a prosthetic leg. On another board, someone who claimed to "be in the know" posted that PH has 2 prosthetic limbs. He doesn't. Several WSers have seen the photograph of PH, and are quite sure he has only 1 prosthetic leg.

I don't think there is a better illustration of how rumor/gossip can be helpful or harmful with respect to sleuthing, and I think it goes directly to what Salem was saying in her post about experimenting with the idea of a rumor thread. When the information is good (the car accident rumor), it gives us a jumping off point that good sleuthing ought to be able to verify. When the information is not good (PH being detained by LE), when it can't be verfied, we should simply let it go and not carry it into a discussion of verifiable facts.

I was googling "CVS 460 MONTAUK HIGHWAY WEST ISLIP, NY11795, PH (name spelled out)" to see if I could find any connection. I didn't get very far before stumbling onto something unrelated, but interesting..... the comments under an article from Newsday. Some poster with the name "peterf14" has a LOT of information about some sort of corruption scam within the SCPD and the DA's office... too complicated to detail here because I have not digested it all yet. It involves some sort of business that was an "entertainment - movie producing" operation that was really just about getting people to invest in it and scam their money - which would include bringing in important people from out of state to "entertain" with "coke, etc.". Apparently, there were some officers that were involved... Anyways - if anyone wants to read it, go to the comments at the end of the article. There are over 1000 of them now, and you have to keep "paging forward" to see them.

I read some of his comments and I still don't have a clue. LOL

i am just speculating off this here, i'm not trying to start rumors and what i am going to say is just my opinion possibly on a guess.

say the sk got a girl pregnant and she ended up having his child, the sk could not deal with that as it would "ruin his career life" if his family (if he has one) found out. so he killed the girl and the baby.

the baby was wrapped in a blanket. this fact alone that the killer used a blanket to bury the baby with shows some type of emotion towards the baby. it's similar to cases we've seen where a baby would be buried in a box, almost like a coffin. despite that a baby was killed, it shows some type of emotion towards the baby on the killer's behalf.

IMO, the entire LI and desolate areas of the outer boros are littered with bodies. It seems as though the latest find is the work of a serial killer. He chopped the bodies up and heaved them out of his car in many places. IMO, the first 4 bodies found are from serial sex slave predators.​

One of the gals came out of The Holiday Inn Express on Exit 56. Other than the gal from N.Babylon, the others came from far away places. One has to assume the ladies didn't travel all the way from their home bases to meet up with a one-night trick. The Holiday Inn has been known to be a something like a headquarters for the prostitutes and the criminal organizations that run them.​

Considering he is a retired homicide detective his background/experience alone adds weight/credence to this thoughts on this case. This is, of course, imho.

She has posted video she found on youtube claiming this might have been made by the killer. The videos are kinda disturbing.

I've only checked out the first video so far but it has certainly made me uncomfortable... I haven't seen the connection yet, I'll check out those time frames so I don't have to sit through this entire bizarre second video.
