Yeah, he played with fire that he probably didn't fully appreciate the capacity of (although he did say he thought she might kill him but had sex with her anyway?). And yes, you can take something that's offered for free (assuming it was) or you can reject it -- clearly and consistently. Obviously, that's not what happened here. And yes, he did pay dearly for his "mistake." I think he paid dearly for his deliberate actions, not by any mistake, but that's just me.

Long time lurker, but can't resist the urge to jump in. First thing, clearly she murdered him - no question there - pure rage without a doubt. Guilty!
But, I do believe there was a form of emotional abuse on his part with someone I am sure he knew was unstable. He did play with her head - I will be with you if you convert, but we can't have sex. Well we can have sex if its this kind of sex. Oh well you had sex with me, you are a wh@re and I can't marry you.
He wasn't a poor innocent 16 yr old virgin - he knew what he was doing and anytime that JA crawled thru his doggy door he could have thrown her out or even call the police. I believe he over-estimated his ability to handle this situation and it cost him his life.
Again want to state no excuse for what she did - murder pure and simple.

I do not mean any offense by this, but you're operating backwards (Going from already have formed a conclusive opinion to a different opinion, not starting from nothing and going to something). The defense is trying to show it was self defense, because Arias was abused. It is then necessary to show that Arias was actually abused. If there are e-mails from the victim's best friend to the victim saying that he's not treating her right, and it may be interpreted as he's being abusive to her... It certainly matters to the defense case. The question is no longer did Arias do it; we know she did. The question the defense is hoping to bring up is if Arias did it in self defense.

m00c0w, there is no proof that Arias was abused.

I have been following a Facebook page: The State vs Jodi Arias.

I came across a comment left by a Matthew Mallia who says he worked with Arias and her ex, Darryl Brewer. This is what he said:

Hello. My name is Matt. I was the Exec. Chef at the time that Jodie Arias was employed at Ventana Inn and Spa in Big Sur and began her relationship with Darryl Brewer. I heard on JVM that Darryl characterized that their relationship began after he was no longer her supervisor. That is a lie. Also, It was also stated on JVM that Jodie did not exhibit any violent behavior that he was aware of. I can recall a specific incident with other witnesses when she did at Ventana Inn and Spa during her shift.
I bear no malice toward Jodie or Darryl. My objection to their relationship at that time was directly related to how Jodie manipulated the entire restaurant staff after her relationship with Darryl began and Darryl's culpability and in her manipulative behavior.

One thing about this trial after yesterday...the poor jury! I mean I could take it, If there are any "prudes" on the jury, what a shock. What with anal sez, little boy underwear, pig tails, semen on your face... :what:

Were they warned as to the sexual graphics?

This defense is gonna go there...yesterday was just a preview. Although on cross, I think the prosecution has already proved Jodi was no "virgin" to certain sexual acts and TA did not introduce them to her or change her into his sexual slave. I cringe just thinking about what the defense has in store in tarnishing the victim's name.

Defense should get a clue, tone it down, and REST their case. No one will buy self defense. After all, Mr. brewer testified that she is aggressive in sex, had anal sex at least two times....lol...think he lied, it was likely every day. UGH. Too much information.

Oh how I wish JM would subpoena him!!!!! Love to hear him trash Brewers testimony. I don't think Brewer wanted to defend Jodi. I think he is very fearful that if she is set free, she will go after him if he says anything negative.

And her mother! Can you believe her laughing so many times in court yesterday? Disgusting.

Much of that is from JA's mouth. Her track record with the truth is.....not exactly sterling. And how is it impossible to believe that SHE might have been the one doing the manipulations and emotional damage?

Sorry OT but I just wanted to thank everyone for all the links and videos, I swore I would not watch or get into another trial after Caylee got NO Justice but I could not help myself I pray Justice is served I do not nor did I ever think JA was a victim of abuse. Being a survivor of both it sickens me to see people use it when it is not true and she is lying and nothing will change my mind, JMO of course and thanks to all again.

So he baptized her into the Mormon church yet had all kinds of sex with her despite all the teachings of said church (which was originally his, not hers), but it's perfectly understandable that he only wanted a sexual relationship with her and because he "made that clear" it's okay. Ask a Mormon. I think not.

eta: and by not okay, I mean excommunication and eternal damnation, not okay. Not just "yeah, we wish you'd done better". More like purgatory in Mormon, but just as bad given the ultimate goal that's unachieved.

You changed the subject entirely.

I'm not Mormon, and I couldn't care less whether Travis was temple worthy or not.

You can't blame Travis for Jodi settling for sex with him when what she really wanted was marriage.

There is just NO proof to your claim. We can speculate all day long. But you are taking the word of Jodi Arias. And she was and is a ho! So no lie there.

I think she is :what:

:moo:

I find that extremely disrespectful. I have heard that is either JA's sister or her BFF, either way that this girl is there with Ja's Mom speaks much of that family. imo

Agree! Agree! Agree!

The defense will likely state that they knife was just "sitting around" because they had recently used it in their sex play.

In the opening argument, it was stated that a knife was used to cut the "rope that was soft". He tied her to the bed and "used a knife to cut the rope when it was the appropriate length". Here is the audio, bookmarked to start at the relevant portion:

Does anyone know what they were laughing at? Or were pics just shown of them laughing? We all cracked up (most of us) at the whole circle/ triangle thing with Gus-Gus, and maybe they were laughing at that, a pic was snapped, and boom! it goes viral and people start bashing. I mean unless people on live feed saw them laughing we don't know what they were laughing AT. It's easy to snap a picture without knowing the context of it. There were actually quite a few laughable parts yesterday and i am sure even they could see that.

m00c0w, there is no proof that Arias was abused.

Did you read the entire sentence?

The defense is trying to show it was self defense, because Arias was abused.

The defense is attempting to prove that Arias was abused and led to self defense.

Even if somehow that statement was murky on its own, the next sentence puts it in context and maintains that this is what the defense is wishing to prove:

It is then necessary to show that Arias was actually abused.

I implore you to please examine the entirety of my post before putting words in my mouth. No offense intended, that's just so far from what I actually said...

Also: I'm a he.
