I had noticed that before it is very spooky - perhaps it has a little to do with Easter ?

Easter was only that late in April in 2003

2008 i think was march and 2012 was first week in april i think.....

The April connection stood out to me too. That time of year is characterised by a few public holidays - Easter, Anzac Day and Labour Day (Labour Day was moved to October from 2013 in Qld).

21-22 April 2003 was a week that took in Easter Monday holiday (21st) and Anzac Day (Friday 25th)
24 April 2008 was a Thursday night (like Allison) - the night before Anzac Day and a long weekend. (Easter was 21-24 March that year)
19 April 2012 was between Easter (6-9 April) and Anzac Day (Wed 25th)

Tangled... <modsnip> thank you for bringing this to our attention!

This story is all a bit bizarre for us in the Brizzymum household.

Social Media eh! Hate it and love it!

Thanks.

Thankyou to Marly for going through the process of allowing me permission to post this link:

There is a USA case currently taking my attention on WS - Abby Jo Blagg - Missing Person.
Michael Blagg (her father) was charged 1st Degree Murder for killing his wife and dumping her body.
Staged the murder.
The wifes body was found 9 months later - but his little girls was not :(

After looking for further information regarding the Blagg 2004 case, I noticed some key points which mirrors the GBC case greatly.
I wanted to post the opinion of the Credibility and Deception Expert after they saw a video of him being questioned by Police and the 911 calls - including his numerous calls to the house during the day to say Hi to his wife and where is she...

Sound familiar?
Michael Blagg received a Life Sentence.
This is a US case - not Australian - it is for comparison.
And something to read up till we start again Monday at GBC trial.

A (2004) video link where you can listen to the 911 call - 1 minute 19sec into the clip is here:

And the Affidavit to Arrest - the Police suspicions. Mentions the emails, the daily calls to see where she is - the *advertiser censored*, the escort services - specs of her blood in the car, red flags when interviewed, the pre-meditated planning, the lack of evidence, the job description, witness reports ...

Its not one exclusive case comparison to another - there are many more here on WS that ring true with the same premise - like a script (as someone else mentioned).

A bit late now to be posting this opinion, but I am hoping like ****** that the Jury realise that there is no way that GBC's children would think that he would lie to them (Parents do not usually lie to their children!!!!) ....... and that there is no way that he would tell them that he had 'murdered' their Mother.
........ In light of the fact that their Mother was 'missing', it goes without saying that they would even entertain the idea that their Father had 'done' anything to their Mother.
In that respect, in their bewilderment when questioned by Child Protection Officers, they would be likely to repeat whatever their Father had told them about the circumstances surrounding the morning of the 20th April 2012.

The love for and trust in their Mother came through so clearly in those taped interviews with Allison's children. That will always be in their hearts.

Maybe next week there will be a chance depending on how long the jury take and what time the verdict comes in. I really enjoyed meeting kiwijayne, snails, Freya and Aunty. I had a lot in common with Aunty but everyone I met was nice. Depending on timing, I hope to be able to rush in when a verdict comes in, or soon after.

I'm still on tenterhooks about when that will be, about how far along in their deliberations they are at this point. My feeling is they are conflicted between murder and manslaughter but that might be wishful thinking on my part.
Yes, it was awesome to meet a fellow web sleuther, and to have so much in common was just lovely.
Hope to catchup again on Monday perhaps ?

IMO, if the Jury are thinking that 'someone' is responsible for Allison's body being found dead under Kholo Bridge, then who else if not GBC ..... no evidence has been presented which points to another person.
In that respect, either GBC walks / or is convicted of Murder ...... because surely Manslaughter would be disregarded in the light of the strong motives which have been cited;
.... and because of the weak declarations of GBC's thorough devotion to Allison;
.... and his withholding of information for 11 days;
.... and his ability to attend to Insurance matters in conjunction with NBC .... once a body was found that was likely to be that of Allison.

Thank you for sharing! I've just read the first link and I agree, very chilling. Pleased to hear he was found guilty. Now, off to hunt down the 48 Hours episode about him.

Judge Byrne direction to jury

"If you conclude that the accused lied because he realised that the truth would implicate him in killing his wife, you would need carefully also to consider whether the lie reveals a consciousness of guilt merely with respect to manslaughter as distinct from also revealing an intention to kill or to cause grievous bodily harm,” he said.

“You may only use the lie about cutting himself shaving – if it is a lie – as tending to prove the element of murder of an intention to kill or to cause grievous bodily harm if, on the whole of the evidence, the accused lied because he realised that the truth of the matter in that respect would show that, in killing his wife, he had intended to kill her or to cause her grievous bodily harm.

“It may be that, even if you were to find that the accused lied about his facial injuries because he realised that the truth would show him to be the killer, still you would not conclude that the lie shows that he realised that her death after scratching him with her fingernails would show that he had killed her intentionally.”

It is a little head spinning in the wording so maybe that's why the jury initially wanted a copy? I hope this wont confuse the jury into misinterpreting it and think the scratches can't really count the way they can.

In having the luxury of being able to see it written I think he just means...
If you think he lied about the scratches because he knows they show he killed her, then you can't use that alone to determine he intended to killed her or cause the grievous bodily harm on purpose. You need to look at the whole of the evidence to determine whether or not he intended to. Wh couldn't the judge just say that to confuse the jury less? So it seems to be a murder vs manslaughter thing, I wonder if that indicates anything on where the deliberating is at.

I do think it is a little head spinning - it's one thing that worries me, that they could still misinterpret this and feel they can't find him guilty if the lying about the shaving cuts is significant in their eyes. I think all this waiting for a verdict is making my concerns worse!

You will be nerdy again Alioop as generally the results from laser surgery only lasts for "a period" of time, and the time depends on the individual - maybe 10 years, maybe 20 years. Laser surgery is great when it works but the results don't unfortunately last forever :(

You are right. It's been 12 years and I now need glasses for night driving. But it's been great not having to wear glasses for this long and I am still ok in the day and night unless driving. They can look good but when you rely on them it's just a nuisance. I am glad I got it done.

Agreed. I'll be in touch. But not sure how I'll go on Monday unless a verdict comes in around late morning or noon, or at the end of the day. I'll be at work but because of various meetings or times when i may be able to leave the office, there could be some opportunities to nip into the city but it is all going to depend on the time.

I really hope I am able to get in for the verdict, or at least soon after so whoever wants to can get together to either celebrate or drown our sorrows. Ideally late Monday would be great - jury do you think you could oblige? Late Wednesday would be good too but surely it won't take that long - and how agonising would that be?

Can any of our legal eagles tell us - what happens if a jury can't reach a verdict, what do they do? Do they have another trial with another jury?

So quiet in here now. I can hear the echo.

Echo....echo.....echo

maybe everybody is grabbing a life...not me...bummed that after a tumultuous two weeks of warp speed forum and me out in western qld with patchy wifi (and mobile plan GB all used up!!!!!!) I get home yesterday with the excessive 500 GB at my beck and call....and............it all comes to a screeching halt!

It looks like the party animals have all gone out and it's just you and me kiwijayne - having a life is over--rated....much more fun sitting on the couch in slippers and robe yelling at the kids to go to sleep because school starts day after tomorrow so they better get used to going to bed earlier....yeah....livin' the dream.....sigh....echo.....

Oops!.......apparently that's not something you should start to watch when you're alone in your home on a Saturday night..... Will try and watch it some other time..... Looks very interesting but very frightening!

I'm supposed to be sewing lol. Instead I'm here hoping we get a quick and swift judgement for Allison and reading more info.

Oops! thanks for reminding me - I am also supposed to be sewing - new buttons on a shirt I plan to wear for for a job interview! And it is a purple shirt - so please everyone I love purple and it is a feminist colour, a suffragette colour, and a girl power colour in my eyes so can we not call OBW and EBC "the purple brigade?"

Yes...I was driving and nearly ran off the road when I read (v bad I know but obsession and addiction will make one do some irresponsible things.....) on my phone that it was going to continue on Monday. I was sooooo convinced they would have come to a verdict. Unfortunately no excuse for the weekend to not do jobs.....forum is crazy quiet....even my kids want to know why I am functioning relatively normally and not glued to a smart device muttering obscenities at the <modsnip> wife murderer - am I allowed to say that? Maybe I should slip in "alleged" like they have in the media about that texan bloke who just executed his ex wife's family.....allegedly. ....!!! Heart breaking that story...:(
