Found Deceased TN - Barshay Wilson, 25, UofM student, missed graduation, was visiting a friend, stepped out to take a phone call, Memphis, 9 Dec 2022

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Have you seen this man?

Barshay Wilson is a University of Memphis student.

He vanished late last week the night before graduation.

The Memphis Police department issued this city watch alert over the weekend.

He’s described as 6 foot, 240 pounds with black braids.

He was last seen wearing a purple track suit.

“No one deserves to be missing. His family definitely wants him to be brought back home,” James Beasley, a University of Memphis student.

This is very concerning that he missed his graduation. I hope that Barshay is safe.

The friend explained to investigators she was able to track his location. It showed that he was on the interstate but friends looked in the area and couldn’t find anything.

Thank you. My mind always goes back to the guy in Utah (?) who killed his wife when backed into a corner with an approaching graduation when he had not attended class for years.

So Barshay didn't take his car. I wonder who called him? A friend? Were they supposed to meet somewhere close by, Barshay walked there and then something happened?

I've hardly had to use "Find My" or similar services, so I'm not exactly sure how it works, but I wonder if his phone was moving on the highway, as if he was in a car?

Going off what we've already been told :
A friend told police Wilson had been at her apartment approximately 15 minutes before he received a phone call and walked outside. She said she looked outside shortly after but Wilson was gone. His car was still parked outside.

ALL IMO: He received a call ( possible pickup, meet up etc) Friend looked outside/tracked his cell possible G/F ( I don't have friends tracking me). I do think he had every intention of going to graduation. Something went really wrong. I'm extremely concerned for this young man.

Or maybe the delivery person was not a delivery person at all... if a food delivery had been ordered and delivery was expected. Or maybe a friend did come by and pick him up. Who knows?

At this point anything is possible, and some probably not good.
What has happened to that young man? College graduation is a Big Deal. I can't imagine someone not attending his/her own graduation, at least for the mother to see her son or daughter graduate.

Lots of people don't "walk" at college graduation, for any number of reasons, but it sounds like he was very excited about doing this. I also have a bad feeling about this.

Three independent sources confirmed to me they located missing U of M student Barshay Wilson’s body off Hwy 70 in Arlington yesterday. A burned out car and his body buried yards away underneath leaves and tree branches. Wilson was supposed to graduate Sunday.

This is heartbreaking. His family went from planning on celebrating his Graduation to planning a funeral. My prayers are with Mr Wilson and his entire family. I hope they find who did this to him quickly.

Wow! That was fast and so very sad! A bright future awaited him. Why?!

This was so sad to read - his whole future in front of him. It may be totally unrelated and indicative of just recreational use of drugs (i.e. marijuana) but he did have an arrest for possession of drug paraphernalia in a neighboring state (MS) a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, in my opinion, even the purchase for recreational use can put one in contact with people that could be a threat. Arrests from Dec. 30, 1019 through Jan. 5, 2020

Very sad news. Now, who would have wanted him dead? Was it someone he knew or a crime of opportunity?
