Found Deceased TN - Barshay Wilson, 25, UofM student, missed graduation, was visiting a friend, stepped out to take a phone call, Memphis, 9 Dec 2022

Thank you. My mind always goes back to the guy in Utah (?) who killed his wife when backed into a corner with an approaching graduation when he had not attended class for years.
I remember that case, IIRC around 2009-2010. He was never enrolled, in fact he was never a medical student. He confessed to LE, led LE to a landfill but I don't recall that they ever found her body. Can't remember the surname, couldn't find any discussion of the case on WS.

However, that case is off topic to THIS case as we know it.
What an agony for family and friends of Mr. Wilson who had no doubt been looking forward to celebrating this achievement with him.
May all who are responsible for this crime be brought to justice.

An ID for missing nursing student BarShay Wilson was found near a body in Arlington, Shelby County Sheriff’s Department confirmed.
SNIPPED:
After the fire was put out, a deputy found a burned ID in the door of the vehicle with Wilson’s information.

According to Memphis police, officers located a man’s body near the location on Monday night around 3:50 p.m. Police say he had been shot

The above report says that the burned vehicle was on Highway 70. The friend says she tracked his cell to the interstate. Are these considered the same thing in that area? The friend also said they went looking there for him and didn't see anything and now the above article says "after the fire was put out" Did this person come back and set the fire later and that's how police found him? Putting out the fire?

Not the Interstate (I-40) at all, but US 70, which is multiplexed with US 64 and US 79 in the area. The road is also designated State Route 1, but signs in the area name it "Hwy 70".
Barshay was found not along Hwy 70, but on a road from it, leading to Arlington's water treatment plant. About here:
Report from FOX13:
"Wilson was found shot dead near the Arlington Water Treatment Plant on Monday night under leaves and tree limbs, independent sources close to the case told FOX13."

I'm confused (night shifter-just woke up)- the friend who's home he was at stated his vehicle was parked outside but the article states a burned out vehicle with his ID in it was found along with possibly his body. Is this his vehicle? If not, why would his ID be found in it?

@ifindedout Thank you, I'm having an issue that he went missing on Friday night, found Monday around 4pm and the above article I posted above Missing University of Memphis nursing student’s ID found near body
which by the way is not saying they put the fire out anymore. ( probably poor reporting) but after "putting the fire out found him and ID. Someone had him the whole wkend and then did the car fire etc or there was no fire to put out and he was there the whole time. I'm getting confused on date/times because MSM is changing their reporting. IMO

I am still confused about him posting the degree earned in 2021 and commencement taking place in December 2022 unless it was a Covid postponement.

A lot of schools are allowing students who should have walked during canceled COVID ceremonies to walk in 2022-2023 ceremonies. My university is doing this, and additionally, they are printing our names in the 2022-2023 announcements - they were not in the 2021 announcement.

For clarification ID of missing UofM student found in burnt vehicle
Later that night, according to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, Wilson’s ID was found inside a burnt vehicle in Arlington.

According to an incident report with SCSO obtained by Action News 5, deputies responded to a fire call around 10:30 p.m. near 11150 Highway 70.

Upon arrival, a deputy observed a vehicle that was fully engulfed in flames. Shelby County Fire (SCF) made the scene and put the fire out. The deputy observed a burnt ID next to the passenger side door and was able to get Barshay Wilson’s information, according to the incident report.
SNIPPED:
While this fire happened late Friday night, this is the same scene where police found a body Monday afternoon.

Memphis Police say the person died of a gunshot wound.

So the car was found on fire Friday night and he was located on Monday.
