MO pure speculation - Joann' husband, Gary, is not involved. Teresa knew about and willingly participated in the kidnapping and possibly urged Adam to follow thru with the abductions and possibly the murders. Teresa is not that much of a "slow learner" to prevent her from being able to drive a vehicle. When I go to sleep I sleep so sound that I can sleep thru a fire alarm maybe Gary Bain is the same way. I don't think Adam drugged anyone. To me, home school or not home school has nothing to do with anything. Teresa said she was in the house when Adam killed Joann in the garage - so who was watching/holding captive the girls in the house while he killed Joann - TERESA.

FBI officials have said they believe Bain was preparing her family to move to Arizona at the end of the school year. The family had ties to Arizona, where the two older daughters were enrolled in school on and off between the years 2004 and 2009, according to the Tucson citizen.

Was Adam spending the night at the Bain house after a day of helping them pack? Did Teresa drive to their house and meet Adam there?

I pray that they catch this freak show murderer before he does any harm to these two girls.

I agree........but I immediately thought the band thing was a ruse....that this is for him and the girls to travel/hide. So they can play Xbox and be entertained....the UK thing seems strange.....although online it doesn't really matter how far away someone is. One thing I question, where would he get the money for all this?

Selling viagra?????

Whether it is AM or not on the UK website, I am glad someone turned it in. They can investigate if it is him or not. Sometimes people just ask questions on a foreign website, does not mean they are in the foreign country. My ex used to do that all the time on swedish websites and so on for computer issues.

My greatest concern is this type of reporting and attitude from people like Nancy can cause AM, who is desperate enough, to murder-suicide. Yes, we feel great to here what a loser someone is on TV, but in many cases, it can actually push someone over the edge. If there is a chance of getting these little girls back, it is not going to be from the trash talking sensational media that the average american thrives on. It is going to be because AM feels he has a chance of being heard, understood and listened to by society. Nancy does a lot of irresponsible reporting in situations where hostages/kidnap victims are involved and makes desperate situations worse by destroying situations where a negotiation could have occurred. Let's just hope AM does not listen to this and has enough "bonding with his children" to protect them. There is a fine line that pushes men, including "fathers" over the edge to resort to ending lives of a family. All this talk, including TM's sister, etc...really is doing more harm then good. Ethical journalism does not sell to the masses and our society is run by capitalism. Let's hope the media is not the straw that fully alienates AM from society to cause him to end all their lives...:banghead:

While I understand your frustration with media and I am often frustrated by Nancy's sensationalism I will say that whether intended or not she does a great service to those missing.. WS is proof of that.. If any may doubt what I'm saying then just take a look at cases here that are just a few pages of posts for sometimes days and weeks and then when Nancy airs the case it is massive attention and awareness and the threads here show it.. Not only do the posts start pouring in but take a look at the bottom of each page and you'll see those numbers of members and guests increase 500+%..

So while I get very frustrated with her attitude and certain aspects I will fully admit that it is waaaaaay more good than bad.. Some will attempt to throw out that Nancy is responsible for Melinda Duckett's suicide and that is 100% hogwash.. That girl was absolutely responsible for her sons disappearance and was past the point of rescue..

As for Adam.. Pluheeze!! Nancy Grace hasnt a thing to do with why this madman has murdered, beaten, and destroyed lives.. His path of destruction has been going on for years and Nancy Grace hasn't a damn thing to do with what, how, or when this madman chooses to end this nightmare..

So, while I agree that Nancy has her faults and grates peoples nerves.. Nonetheless if even not intentional on her part what she does for the cases I am grateful as I'm certain families are as well for the massive attention that her show brings the case that involves their loved ones.. While I can't speak for Marc Klaas I sense he feels quite the same that he may not agree with all of Nancy's opinions or attitudes, but that he very much realizes the great importance that her show is for those who have been taken and their loved ones left behind to deal with it.. He's on there multiple times a week and it's definitely NOT FOR NOTHING!! He too realizes what that show does for these cases.. IMO thats what's important about the show and IMO those positives outweigh the negatives a thousand times over.. Jmo, tho!

It says on this link that Joann privately home schooled her girls. How does this fit in with enrolling them temporally while in TN, after returning from AZ? I am very confused about this, especially since according to some msm reports, they were remaining on TN until the girls finished out the school year.

The paintedcorners site was started sometime on or before February 13, 2010. Since the comment about home-schooling is from the "about" page on the site, they must have been home-schooling at the time that page was written. At the present time, they were attending local schools.

I've been wondering if GB even viewed AM as kind of a son, given that he had know him since he was so young. At any rate, I think you make good points about GB maybe being more tolerant and trusting him because their relationship goes back so far.

I think you bring up a good point.

Particularly since it sounds like the Mayes family overall could have been abusive. GB may have wanted to do what he could to help AM, hoping AM would overcome his family background.

I just keep thinking about a guy in his 60s fixing cars with a guy in his 30s and how common it is for situations like that have a benevolently paternal overtone.

Due to the confusing relationships of all of the people in this case...DNA may have crossed over once or twice and ruling out parentage may be no easy task...JMO

Aunt Mom and Uncle Dad...LOL. :)

JMO, but I think, over time, that Jo Ann home-schooled her children...perhaps until they reached a certain age. And then, perhaps, they each went to public school. Also, there may have been a mix of public vs. home school based on whatever else was going on (like her own schooling, GB's work, the needs of each child, and whatever else). All we know for sure is JB had "picture day" photos for the 2 youngest from 2009 in AZ, and GB said the kids didn't get off the school bus in TN on 4/27/12. And a ball team-mate of AB's talked about last year in TN (but we don't even know if that is a school-related sports team or not. That activity was probably in the spring/summer/fall, and then JB's father died (in AZ) near end of 2011. JMO.

I think this advice is important to all of us. The descriptions of AM have come from TM's mom and sister. The first time I read a timeline, early on, I mentally calculated that GB was 60, JB was 31, AM was 35, and the middle daughter was 11. That is a big age difference, and the families have all been "friends" for a long, long time. I just supposed that that middle child was AM's. I don't mean to say he is a good guy, no telling what thoughts any of them had in their heads. But, it is never a good thing to run somebody down so badly, it just never does any good. He does have the girls, we need to pray that there is no more blood shed.

And the children may not have had anything to say. AM may never have crossed the line between "affectionate like an uncle or big brother" and molesting.

Statistically, men are less likely to molest their biological child. If the girls are alive, let's hope they think they are on an extended camping trip and not being harmed.

I agree with MagnoliaMom. That quote is suspicious and it looks like it caught Vicki's attention too. Is anyone else suspicious of GB in all of this? He somehow thought that AM ran off with JB... did he try to call AM or TM? He didn't hear anything and apparently he and his adult daughter are really late sleepers who weren't surprised that JB et al were long gone when they woke up? Wasn't he expecting to pack a U-Haul and start driving to AZ that next day as well?

Respectfully:

I'm confused. I read the same thing and I don't get what GB is "thinking". Only that he realized they weren't home yet and he called her mother to see if she had heard from them. At that point he didn't think they were kidnapped (according the cousin) but past that it doesn't say he thinks she ran off either.

That's when Jo Ann's husband Gary Bain called Jo Ann's mother in Henderson Tennessee.

"And his comment to my cousin was 'So y'all haven't seen them?' How was he put it, 'I don't think they were kidnapped.' And from there the feelings became more foreboding," Mahan says.

GB might have been thinking they had been in a wreck or were in the hospital. Who knows what he was thinking. I don't!

Obviously, the reported was asking Mahan, JB's cousin questions. Mahan is not the cousin that had spoken to GB. So this is a second and third hand conversation that is being told to the reporter.

If you notice the subject skips around. It doesn't say that GB suspected she ran off with Mayes or that he even mentioned Mayes.

JB and his family are victims and grieving over the death of his wife and daughter and the abduction of his other two daughters. Unless someone can prove he "Did" something and not assume he "thought" something then in my eyes he is an innocent man.

I am suspicious of GB. Doesn't mean that he has done a thing wrong. However, the comment by JoAnn's cousin did further my suspicions. Something is way way off with the entire situation, IMO.

I have specifically told my husband that should something happen to me...first call 911, 2nd immediately get on WS and post it!

3rd ... One of you inform LE that I am a Websleuth member. All those internet searches on murder, blood evidence, decomposition and body dismemberment were me, NOT my husband!!!

Could you imagine what LE would think, eek!!! :what:

I wonder how he made the money to get a harley....he didn't work did he? Odd jobs? What kind of odd jobs did he do in order to survive? Also, those foods that he eats...they are foods that can easily be consumed on the run. Peanut butter and crackers stay good a long time. Tomato soup in a can...mayo packs can be obtained lots of places. Also, the article that the brother in NC spoke in was very interesting that they lived a nomadic lifestyle. Usually there is a reason for people moving all around the country, and its to get away from something. MOO The brother in NC sounds like he could enlighten everyone. He had been estranged from his family until 6 months ago when his sister contacted him. Bet they have a lot more to say before this is all said and done. MOO

People move around a lot chasing the American dream, too. It's practically a cliche it is so common. It's the whole reason the US isn't concentrated on the East Coast!

The food thing was an example from his childhood. I haven't seen anything to indicate whether he still clings to that diet or whether his tastes have broadened in the intervening years.

As for the Harley, he may have gotten it as a junker and got it running again. There's been several mentions that GB and AM worked on cars together and a motorcycle isn't so different from a car (particularly older motorcycles).

A friend of mine who is into motorcycles said that it's not all that uncommon for someone to get a Harley for the fun of it, then lose interest, let the tires rot, etc, and then take it to a junkyard or sell it for parts. She says many of those Harleys run just fine with minimal work and a pair of new tyres.

I think there is suspicion of GB because earlier in the case it was mentioned he posted on her FB page that he wanted her to come home that they could work out anything like they always haved. But then it was taken off of her FB page.

Wow...so if he passed in AZ then why go to Tenn. for a long period of time due to a death...I am confused...nothing new.... ( continues chasing my tail...I will catch it someday, yes I will)

I think they had been in Tennessee, planning a move to Arizona at the end of the Tennessee school year and flew back to Arizona for the funeral.

Then they returned to Tennessee to finish the school year and pack up to move.

I don't think its the same AM. The folks appear to be from England. The voltage they are discussing sounds EU not US. Also, all the things the person describes doing to his vehicle sounds expensive for someone who doesn't have a job.

JMO

ETA - Is the VW Crafter even sold over here? If so, I would think it was very hard to come by. Just guessing, as I am really not familiar with recent VW's.

I was thinking the same thing. This poster seems to speak British English (uses "straight away" for instance) and I would expect AM to speak Deliverance English.

Either way, I'm sure the FBI has his entire web history for the past 10 years, so they'll know if it is him. IMO. Definitely an awesome find.

No I am not suspicious of him at all.
