Sonya, I saw that too. it is in the Crossville Topix, and I'm not 100% its her, but it was interesting to read it. And a Kayla repkied today!!

The name of the 'Nick' fits...but I don't know.
 
ok...the younger Michael Curtis is in custody for a burglary in June. The 49 year old is there now. the children's father, Nick Curtis SR is a POI, and if you're interested...his Facebook is wide open.

a little bit telling imo.
 
Officials said there had been no previous documented violence between Qualls and Curtis. Police said that Qualls' boyfriend was still considered a person of interest in the case. Both Curtis and his son were said to have criminal pasts.

Qualls was found murdered inside her SUV on Monday morning, just a few miles across the Franklin county line. A preliminary investigation indicated that Qualls died of blunt force trauma to the head.

What possible motive could there be to beat this beautiful young woman to death? This is so sad and sickening. 2 beautiful children without their mommy.
 
Michael L. Curtis, 48, was arrested in his home around 7:00 p.m. Curtis is the grandfather of Qualls' children and the father of Qualls' boyfriend.

Police believe Curtis did not act alone. Qualls' boyfriend is being held in custody as a person of interest. Both of the men have a strong criminal record.

Qualls was found in a wooded area off Spring Creek Rd. with blunt force trauma to the head and her body stuffed in the back of her maroon Ford Explorer.

Investigators of the crime say they believe the murder happened in Curtis' home in Tullahoma, Tenn. where he then took her body and vehicle, and dumped them in the woods.

Curtis' bond is set at one million dollars.

In the video the reporter states this is her xbf's father. Probably another case of the father didn't want anyone else to be seen as a father figure to his children. Did the Gdad really do it, or is he taking the blame for his son and just helped dispose of her body? They certainly didn't try to hide her body.

Glad the perp was found and arrested so quickly and LE in this case thanked for the fast resolution. May all who were involved be held accountable.

Prayers for all who loved her...especially her two little children. It will be a very sad Christmas for them all. God's speed in her parents seeking custody. How confused those children must be in foster care and missing their mommy. Just sickening.

People never think things through at all. The SOBs kill her, and now they end up in jail and the kids have nobody. Yeah, that helps a lot. What fools who did this.

Agreed Hatfield, how did they think that would work out? It's horribly sad and tragic.

I wonder why the kids dad isn't arrested yet? Did the grandfather kill her, then summon the son to help get rid of her and her car? Or did they both kill her? Or did the son kill and the grandfather took the fall? So many things unanswered.
She obviously felt safe enough to go over to the house that morning, alone.

I hope her family gets the kids asap. How do you explain this to those two precious kids?

There was long standing problems between Kayla and her childrens father. A friend of hers just posted it on FB.
Him and his 'girlfriend/wife' were always either no shows to get the kids or drop them off.
She said the whole family was always playing games with Kayla about the kids.

No, but I meant even if in a rage or fight type of thing, people need to control themselves and think it through to not severely hurt the poor girl.

I guess we have to wait to hear more details on what exactly went down. It sounds to me like whoever hurt her really meant to hurt her badly, and I guess that is what I mean by thinking it through. They should have known a severe injury or death would occur with whatever they did to her. Like if they hit her over the head with something.

I am wondering if maybe just one of them did it and the other helped hide the body. I am not sure if both were present originally.

From what I have read it does not sound like she was killed by a single blow to the head, it sounds like she was beaten to death.

I don't see two guys she knew doing that together, I think one of them lost it and beat her to death then the other helped with the body.

Odd thing is, if it were an ex BF then well such rage is easier to understand, but his relatives did this? Why? If they wanted to get rid of her surely they would have come up with another plan.

Multiple news reports say he was in the home at the time, and at least one child was. I hear from some that both children were there, but I don't know who to believe yet.

He has been active on Facebook, and his extended family has been rather outspoken on there too.

Kayla was laid to rest yesterday, they are taking donations for expenses and for the children.
So horribly tragic.

Now I am confused. I thought her two kids were with her live in boyfriend Corey.
 
Sonya, You've got wrong information.
the Kayla you found on Topix is not this Kayla.

Kaylas current boyfriend is Chris. And he's heartbroken from all accounts I'm hearing.
He has children of his own, too.



Her kids were taken into foster care Monday morning. Her family was trying to get custody of them last week. I understand that's standard procedure in a case like this. I hope her parents have them now.

Nick is her ex, not arrested yet. Nicks brother, is already in Coffee County Jail for a robbery charge in June. Now his father, Michael is in there on a million dollar bond. I think his hearing is this morning.
 
My understanding is at least one of the children was at Nicks home that he shared with his dad.
She went to pick the child up I believe. (like I say, it could be both children were present. I'm hearing both stories)

She was killed in the Curtis home. Then driven in her vehicle to the area she was discovered.

There were at least two involved. Grandfather didn't walk 2+ miles back home.

I suppose it is possible that only one of them is responsible, but it doess seem like 2 would have to drive the vehicles. It does seem strange who they have charged though, but maybe it was a scenerio where there was a lot of arguining and then only one of them actually got physical and killed her.

It is so sad for the girl and the kids. So terrible.

I am glad LE seems to have most of it figured out.
