Body found on I-22 identified as missing Memphis woman, sheriff confirms

After a brief investigation, a sheriff in Marshall County confirmed that a body found on I-22 belonged to a Memphis woman who had been reported missing.

According to the sheriff, around 9 a.m. Sunday, authorities found the remains of a woman who was later identified as 30-year-old Kelly Sistrunk.

Sistrunk’s family contacted Marshall County authorities because they discovered that her cellphone was pinging in the area.

The body was found about 50 feet off the pavement on Interstate 22.

The woman had been shot in the head, Dickerson said of the preliminary investigation, noting to the outlet yesterday that an autopsy report had not been filed so there was not yet an official cause of death.

The Memphis Police Department first issued a Missing Adult poster for Kelly Jan. 31, noting on the poster disseminated on social media that it was uncharacteristic of the mother “not to communicate with her family or check in with her son.”

Such a sad story. RIP Kelly. I checked for any hints/threats on her FB, and don't know if this foretold anything, but did notice a January 3 post about leaving someone when it got too dangerous:
