So.... no "new" news on what happened last Thursday at the Status hearing? TIA!

Thursday, October 26th:
*Status Hearing - TN - Mary Catherine Elizabeth Thomas (15) (Mar. 13, 2017) - Tad Cummins (50) accused of transporting minor across state lines & obstruction of justice. 10/20 Update: Trial was set to begin Jan. 2, 2018, but has been pushed back with no further date set.

Yep, things may gotten worse for TC, He had to hire himself a "real"attorney and ditch the court appointed one.
I am wondering what TC will do, when his phone call to his wife is played in court. When his admission, to his wife, that he committed adultry with a minor who thought that they were going to get married and that MCET meant nothing to him and that MCET was free to leave him at any time.

Got this Google Alert - sharing.

An attorney for Tad Cummins, the former teacher who fled the state with a teenage student earlier this year, says statements he made to authorities after his arrest were coerced and should not be used in court.
[.....]
Horst also said that, after Cummins was arrested, authorities improperly asked his wife to talk to him in hopes of securing a confession. Cummins ex-wife says in court documents that authorities asked her to speak to Cummins.
[.....]
Arguments to suppress a confession or comments to police is a typical move for defense attorneys. Prosecutors are expected to respond to Cummins' argument this month, and a decision could be made on the matter as soon as January.

Defense tries anything to get charges lessened or thrown out. JMO

The comments/opinion from a legal expert in the article are interesting and seem to point to this:

Defense tries anything to get charges lessened or thrown out. JMO
, but they’re clutching at straws IMO.

Personally, I’d be very surprised if the Feds made such an elementary mistake in this case, but it’s possible I suppose...

There must be DNA evidence collected that will refute. Plus no one knows how/what MCET will testify to, if that happens. And then there is the testimony of the commune people and the hotels he rented with only one bed.

TC's actions at the commune will nail him: staying in their room, the noisy bed.
What on earth can he say !!!

Horst said law enforcement illegally collaborated with Cummins’ estranged wife to pressure him to confess that he had sex with his former student. Horst also said authorities suggested Cummins could be charged with rape if he did not confess to consensual sex with the girl.

Cummins was charged with taking a minor across state lines for sex, and obstruction of justice after allegedly admitting they had sex during most of their 38 days on the run.

A decision could be made on the matter as soon as January. A judge ordered Cummins held until trial. He’s filed paperwork saying he is pleading not guilty.

Wasn't TC 'broke'?
How does he pay for new attorney? His supporters !!
Is it NOT 'Legal Aid' now?

The KY Jelly purchase caught on video in the OK Wal-Mart is incriminating, IMHO.

If I am not mistaken, the family home was sold. TC would be entitled to half of that sale.

What will be problematic for the defense is that his own sister said that he confessed to everything.

"Quinn said Cummins told her he has confessed to everything and wants to get his family back."

Does that mean that LE conspired with her as well?

Thanks Kapua.
What a great reminder....he is now thinking of the many false explanations for this!!!
But with the other evidence, he doesn't stand a chance.

Please, if anyone has time, read the Closing Arguments by the Crown in the Kendhammer Murder Trial.
Lie after Lie, and found Guilty.

I hope, TC's LIES will be clearly exposed, one after another, and found Guilty in his doings.

So is the Viagra re-fill, the staying in the motel in the same room with one bed (per the motel employee) and the testimony of the commune people.
And I think the draft e-mails on the school computer they exchanged is also. Defense will try to explain each away but in totality reasonable jurors will see right through it. JMO

I haven't seen any date for January - anyone else??

TIA!

If you me an the trial its re-scheduled for April
