Obviously they aren’t a do gooder, but in their own eyes they are. IF and that’s a big if, the perp was not in the explosion, he is probably praising himself because he believes his recording saved many lives. The perp probably believes this was something that had to be done, it was imperative in his eyes. IMO he is probably very arrogant too and if someone would have been killed, he would have blamed it on whoever was killed because he “warned” them before the explosion. I agree that he doesn’t care about human life, but he thinks whatever he’s doing is right and therefore he had to warn people to continue being “right” in his mind. Just MOO

edit: grammar/spelling

Exactly. I don’t think anyone is suggesting this person is a good person. The only question is their motivation and goal. I think it’s clear that mass casualties was not the end goal for this weirdo. You describe the probable personality type so well.

Personally I think the date it happened has meaning. I think it has a lot in common with the Christmas Market terror attacks in Europe and the area chosen for it's terrain. The heavily constructed buildings would intensify the bomb's damage. I hope they find the person/group involved. I think one would have engineering or physics experience. JMO

I disagree with it having anything in common with the Christmas market attacks in Europe, except the date. I don’t get an Islamic terrorist vibe from this at all. I haven’t known one of those attacks to include any kind of warning that could minimize the loss of life. Their goal is to maximize human casualties.

I think the date here was likely chosen either because no one would be around and/or “You ruin my Christmas and I will ruin yours” type of thing.

They have video evidence of the RV driving down so they must have video of the person getting out (if he did) and walking away. I wonder if they saw him get into a car driven by a cohort? If he died in the explosion, it could be a lone wolf, but if he left the vehicle and it was automated, then he had to have an accomplice. Unless he towed his car behind the RV and dropped it off a block or so behind him? I hope we get more information.

I don't think they were trying to minimize the death toll. The recording wasn't accurate. I think they were trying to get people returning from the evacuation or to get the police officers coming to defuse the bomb. I think the reason the bomb didn't kill was because of the police officers reactions and mistiming the explosion. The bomb squad was on their way and they could have been the target.

‘My Christmas Miracle’: Man walking dog survives downtown Nashville explosion | WKRN News 2
''NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man and his dog were out for a walk early Christmas morning.

“At 6:30 in the morning, you know, there’s not a quieter time downtown than Christmas morning… I noticed there were police cars at each corner with their lights on. And the guy from the 21C hotel was running outside the building and saying we’ve got to evacuate.”

Caught on camera, you can see an officer talking to David Malloy, potentially saving him and his dog from harm.

“The officer was in the middle of the road on 2nd Avenue, walking towards me telling me to evacuate, when I said, ‘why do I need to evacuate’ and then boom, the bomb went off,” recalled Malloy.''

Can I tell you that if I’m told to evacuate, I’m not asking why, I’m asking where and running.

Agreed. I think the only reason we aren’t discussing a death count is those officers actions.

There’s something peculiar about that... we know that the explosion did not happen at the end of the countdown, but the message continued to broadcast. Is it possible that it was manually detonated only when evacuation was complete?
Maybe bomber is a woman. That voice. Warning. Trying to make a statement without casualties.

Yes. If this was done to send a message, it was a big fail IMO. People are speculating 5G, AT&T, technology, Christmas Day, LE. Could be anything at this point.

On the other hand, if some lone wolf, disgruntled rando was able to get ahold of and successfully detonate a bomb this big we should all be VERY worried.

McVeigh did it.

You think so, but in the moment, like I was downtown for 9/11, it is quite different when in the situation... and I have been levelheaded all my life... but when it gets weird like that, you are very thrown off... we all sat looking and trying to just figure it out first! You have no information in the moment and the first information given frankly was wrong... I just hope they figure this out fast!

From my understanding, he had just walked out of his apartment...I can understand where you’re coming from, but I also feel like if I had just woken up, I would be a little bit leery about an officer telling me I needed to evacuate right away.

I certainly hope this is something.

I’m really interested in the remains found, chances are someone would be missed at some point. I sincerely hope it isn’t a poor homeless person who just happened to be near. With the cold we had in the south, I’d say that lowers the chances but there are quite a few homeless in downtown Nashville.
A homeless person crossed my mind as well. There are many in that area sadly.
As far as the bombing, Nashville attracts a lot of post military personnel. So I have a feeling whoever did this may be trained.

So if the RV had been parked there since Christmas Eve, had the person been actually IN the RV the entire time?

Looking forward to the press conference.

Given the scary times we live in, no motive would surprise me. Leaning very strongly toward domestic terrorism, though.

MOO

Very true. This is such a weird one though. The timing of Christmas morning reduced casualties and also reduced the amount of attention. I didn’t even know about the bombing until late yesterday because I was busy with Christmas. I bet most of America wasn’t really paying attention to this until last night or today. Why do something so massive when everyone’s attention is elsewhere and also not send any clear message about who did it or why? Just strange.
