One suspect is in custody as authorities look for clues in the deaths of six people in two states Saturday morning.
Lincoln County, TN authorities confirmed that five people were found shot to death on South Lincoln Road on Saturday morning. They also confirmed that sixth person related to the Lincoln County deaths was also found dead at Huntsville business.

The article says the death of the person found at the Huntsville business is related to the same crime as the five people found shot in Lincoln Co. ~ but what I'm wondering is if they are all related to each other, or work at the same business, or random victims? :confused:

Lincoln County Sheriff Murray Blackwelder said at a news conference late Saturday afternoon that his department is investigating three crime scenes. All of the crime scenes were on the same road.
 
Whew, talk about right in my back yard. Scary stuff. This is interesting in the fact this is one of the few cases I can remember where the shooter didn't kill himself after his spree. Don't know what that says about the perp. He's only 30, but kind of out or the norm.

How creepy for a major story to be unveiling close by! What's the word on he street, who are victims? their ages? relationship to suspect? yadayadayada?
 
This is close to me too... so very sad.

Per Fox 17 news just now, the victims are 1 adult woman, 3 adult men, and 2 teenage boys. :(

I've done some digging -- it appears that the female victim is 38 years old and has 3 children per one of her myspace pages (one of which could possibly be one of the teenage boy victims). Her estranged husband is in custody.

I'm wondering if the victim at in Huntsville, AL at the granite shop is possibly her father or brother (maybe?). The granite shop had the same name as her maiden name. And her hometown was Huntsville.
 
Oops, wanted to add Jacob Shaffer's myspace page (he's the person in custody for this terrible crime). Notice how it says that his mood is "going crazy" and his update says that he's missing his family. Last login date was 7/15/09.

Well, I'm in Huntsville, but less than an hour away from Lincoln County which is in southern Tennessee. I haven't heard anything other than the internet. Waiting on the local news in about 30 min.
 
yeah, it seems like the national news sites have more detailed info (like cnn.com so far). Prayers going up for all families involved. I hope her other children are all okay and did not witness this horrific crime. :(
 
Per newschannel 5 just now, the victims are Tracie Shaffer, her 16 year old son from a previous relationship, his 16 year old friend, and 2 adult males that lived across the street from her. :(

She also had a 9 year daughter from a previous relationship and had a 4 year old daughter with the suspect (IIRC) -- I'm so glad that he didn't harm them but it didn't mention if they witnessed it or not.

A family friend said that they had been separated for about 3 months and that the husband would hide in the woods behind her house to watch her... creepy.

This link appears to be the latest MS page that Tracie set up using her maiden name (Hall). :( There are several more that are either pretty much blank and/or old. There's a sad blog entry on there about loving her son from just a few weeks ago...

ugh. his MS page.... no surprise there. this thing is getting so boring already. shocking and new? no. stupid and lame?? yes.

it's just another lost white boy with no connection to his own culture or history (and lacking a few other important things!), taking on 'pimp daddy' gun-toting, drug-dealing, self-absorbed, materialistic culture on as his own... sickening. see what it leads to? same as for everyone....idiotic behavior and violence.

(p.s. at 30, doesn't it seem he'd be a bit old for that.....?)

I think this might be another Jacob Shaffer. Check out this link below (they posted his picture :behindbar) and see what you think. I don't think these guys look nothing alike.

And from what I have found so far -- he killed his estranged wife, her father, her brother, another adult male family friend, her 16 year old son, and her sons teenage friend. The names haven't been released yet, so I won't post those.

I wonder why he felt the need to kill them all? I was if he was normally a voilent person - or he just snapped? I guess we may never know but what a sad situation. I especially feel bad for the 2 young children that will have to grow up with this, all because of his actions. :(

The bodies of the relatives, along with a teenage neighbor, were found Saturday in two rural homes near Fayetteville in southern Tennessee, said the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. A sixth body discovered at a business about 30 miles south in Huntsville, Ala., has not been identified, and authorities have not said how the killings are linked.
