She sure wasn't unassertive when she slashed people's tires, sent letters to friends of Travis's, taped a sex conversation without someone's permission and so on. JA is very assertive. In fact, she moved TO Arizona when she was broken up with Travis..the list goes on and on.

IMO thats not assertiveness. Assertiveness would be approaching the person she has a problem with and stating her issue and defining the behaviors that are unacceptable to her. Assertiveness is the way that healthy adults react to difficulties.

Tire slashing, secretly recording sex conversations, sending anonymous letters to girlfriends is not at all assertive - it's passive aggressive, it's a sneaky, manipulative way to gain control without addressing the problem directly .

The fact that she is not assertive does not mean that she's a shrinking violet, it just means she deals with problems in a dysfunctional way.
