If she gets LWOP I guess I will be okay with it, but I am definitely hoping she gets the DP. IMO she deserves it. Not just because of the premeditation, and brutality of the crime....but also because of her actions afterward. Sending the grandmother the flowers, and contactng the family with an 18 pg. letter (full of bs). Plus having ZERO remorse.

The DP is on the books for a reason....and this case screams out for it IMO.

The reason I want her to get DP is because she will be on Death Row and isolated with no buddies to giggle with and hold court with.

I thought he sounded exactly like Jodi with the same phrases, the same arrogance and the same refusal to just ANSWER the question. It's like they're both just incapable of saying yes or no without some long detailed wandering aside that has nothing to do with the question and doesn't actually answer it at all. I actually thought that Samuels was even more evasive and contradictory than Jodi. And he was way more hostile.

Jurors don't like hostile experts. The tend to go with the one they just like better personally whatever their testimony is and especially when it's more difficult for the lay person to judge which expert is correct in their findings. They also prefer the expert that is prepared and answers questions succinctly and immediately with an economy of words. Every single thing that Samuels did with his arrogance, hostility, obvious unpreparedness in constantly contradicting himself as well fumbling constantly through notes and books, etc. just screams to jurors that he's totally incompetent by at the same time entirely egotistical and tend to disregard their testimony regardless of what it is.

Another thing they don't like is being ignored by the expert as if they aren't even there. Samuels NEVER once looked at the jurors or explained anything to THEM. Any expert that is accustomed to testifying in court knows that they need to actually face the jurors at times particularly in explaining things so that their testimony is understood as to what they're talking about and speak directly to them like a teacher before a class of students. Even Jodi knew to always talk directly to the jury when explaining her answers instead of acting like they aren't there at all and speaking directly at the questioner. I'm sure Jodi had to be told to do that and why, but Samuels is supposed to be an expert with all this court testimony experience yet he doesn't know that he has to talk to the jurors instead of pretending they aren't even there. I seriously have to wonder if this idiot has ever testified in court in his life with all his fumbling, non-answers, hostility, total unpreparedness, etc. It's like he made it a point to do EVERYTHING wrong as though he wants the jurors to hate him and discount everything he says. It's baffling.

Samuels did look at the jurors when answering questions when Wilmont started the questioning. He looked with each answer he was giving.
He stopped looking when Juan questioned him. Samuels was to busy fumbling for answers...thumbing through his non dated notes and arguing with Juan. IMO at this point Samuels was to embarrassed:blushing: to face the jury with his fabrications. When Wilmont got to question him on redirect he was not engaging with the jury much at all..just trying to pick up the pieces of his reputation.:twocents:

You found it! I love you! This has got to be both the most epic and the worst conceived eye roll I've ever seen. Lololololol. She can just keep rolling those eyes all the way to the death chamber.

I like your attitude Schuby.

I get so mad and flustered when I see her. I haven't been able to eat much lately (nothing all day today), my nose is bleeding frequently now (indication of heat), can't sleep well etc. I want to learn to just LOL at her hideousness. After all she is going to be convicted of first-degree murder.

Yeah, pretty sick eh ?

I found it on the last thread while reading posts this morning that happen while I am sleeping...thanks.

I have trouble choosing a side with the 'shot first' vs. 'stabbed first' debate. I see problems with both and reasons for both. But the debate will rage on forever because we will never know the truth, imo.

Agreed. I really think it doesn't matter, either way it's a death penalty case.

Also, at one point the doctor says Travis hits her, which causes her to drop the camera...

That's a new one isn't it. With each and every fabricated detail that is added to her sick story, the credibility of the entire DT just goes down the tubes.

It's just so over the top. Seriously, who does that? Who in the he11 rolls their eyes during testimony while on trial for their life?!? Man, the balls on this chick are something else!

Let's just hope and pray that most of the jurors caught it. That is the real JA, front and center. I can't believe she dropped the ball and did the eye roll. Apparently she lost a bit of her impulse control.

wow,,,,,,for any one wanted to see the real B in action......check this out at 00:20

WOW!!! Does she REALLY think that no one is watching her EVERY MOVE? How dumb can you be? I HOPE HOPE HOPE one of the jurors saw this. TOTAL lack of respect for anyone! I hope she fries! I hope this jury is smart and sees what she has done and is continuing to do everyday.

I noticed yesterday, at times when the jury would come in and out that she would just stare at the gallery, not even look in the jury's direction. I wonder just who in the world she is balling that way and does the jury see that shes staring people down?

:banghead:

OMG, I missed that part! Will have to try and watch that again. Samuels is a nightmare of an expert witness, huh?! I think he's doing the prosecution more good than he is for the defense.

Cannot wait to hear the juror questions for Samuels to see if the jury is seeing this the same way we are.

I'd love to stay up with ya'll tonight but too tired, so off to watch Nancy and Dr. Drew before I go to sleep... hopefully.

:cat: :offtobed: Night everybody!

I'm afraid the juror questions won't matter....he'll have been coached last night by the DT and have his story straight today or whenever those questions come up. Isn't it funny how it's hard for everyone to be in sync when they aren't telling the truth, even if they have a script!

Did you see her antisocial and histrionic scores? They were pretty high. How could the doc not be scared of her after seeing her fudged scores? She could barely fake being non-antisocial.

Darn, no I didn't! Did they show the results of all the "disorders"? I'd love to seen a screen cap of that!! What did she score on those?

Or she sees the writing on the wall and is on the verge of just giving up any pretensions of innocence.

I've never believed in shot first because it's obvious to me that the entire point of the photo shoot was to maneuver him into the most vulnerable position possible and impede his ability to fight her off. If a gun is your intended method, this wouldn't be necessary.

Good point Schuby, all you would have to do is just blow him away wherever.

I am reading from last night...haven't read through the rest of the thread yet, and I don't know if anyone has posted this information - or has even looked up the information.

But on June 4, 2008 the temperatures were

HIGH - 97
LOW - 71

Now I know myself, and if it's 70 degrees at NIGHT, I am certainly not wearing long sleeves. And we know this didn't happen at night, though she may have been travelling at night.

On the other hand, the temperatures in SLC were

HIGH 57
LOW 48

So while I sure as heck wouldn't be wearing long sleeves while in AZ, I would in fact have a sweatshirt/hoodie/sweater available when I got there. She travelled enough to be prepared.

Not sure if this helps the conversation, but it's one of the first things I looked up in this case but have never seen discussed. Doesn't mean it hasn't been of course.

I just found out tonight WHY it matters.

They need the jury to accept that she has PTSD in order for the upcoming DV expert to make sense.

There is no such thing as 'battered woman' in the psych catalogue. The closest thing they can find is PTSD. So they need the jury to get onboard with that diagnosis so they can take it to the next level with the LaViollette Lady.

She is going to try and explain that she was a victim of Travis's, and could not help but visit him that night and could not break free from his spell and was so battered and frightened that she had no choice but to slaughter him. :furious:

thanks katydid, but I still don't get it! Maybe it will make more sense to me later...

Seems to me that when it takes months of vague, ambiguous, inconclusive, nebulous and circuitous arguments to make a defense case, then there is not a valid defense case! Oh, and never mind the 20 or so major coincidences...

It just seems to me that the emperor is bare-naked.

Your story touched me and sometimes all we need is to hear someone say they know we will make it.....KK YOU CAN DO THIS!After all you did to get away from this evil man, you can certainly find happiness. You DESERVE it!

Thank you soooo much! I feel a bit foolish for going into my issues but when I read that post it was like a lightbulb went off in my head, and I thought OMG it's really not me that's the nutter! And that darn Samuels reminded me so much of that evil jerk it was just impossible not to see so much of them as the same. I couldn't even put my finger on it why he bothered me so much, but the more he went on and on with his ridiculous lies on top of lies and his arrogance and I totally got what she was saying about this guy that she so resented. Everything she said about her woes totally clicked with me and finally made me realize that it really isn't me that's the crazy one and I was right to get rid of him and not feel guilty about lying to him to hoard money away so I'd have a little cushion to pay my bills and eat while I went to school and now look for a job. Because of him I lost all my friends, I was too embarrassed to talk to my siblings about any of this and really had no one to talk to about any of it, and I finally REALLy realized because of that post that there's really hope and I've not just been trying to assure myself that there was.

That dasterdly Samuels jsut brought it all out and not just in me but someone else, too.

I'm sooooo glad I came here! There's so many really wonderful and insightful people here!
