Train camera...
"pink dress"???
She approached him in one version
He approached her in another version.
He wanted "a kiss".....
He "thought she was Turkish"....oh, hmm so it's OK to struggle with a woman and beat her to death so long as she is 'just a local' ?
Somewhat implausible...he ''only realized'' the woman was an American tourist after he saw news reports..(cell phone, IPad, screaming in English???)
Yech...why continue, this whole thing is too disgusting to contemplate further.

Sandoval, did you seriously believe that the person in the fuzzy train video was definitely a woman, let alone SS? 'Pink' dress- I heard that too.
Yet they also also insisted that Sarai was the sunglassed woman with the red (not pink) shirt and brown coat with a logo (and it was clear Sarai didn't have a logo on her brown coat.)
The one her childhood friend said looked nothing like her.

Sarai Sierra's accused killer ordered to get mental health evaluation on first day of his trial in murder of Staten Island mom

Ziya Tasali, 46, an itinerant scrap-paper collector, admitted to the Istanbul court that he bludgeoned Sierra to death but denied trying to rape her

I had sniffed paint thinner (vapors) and was high," Tasali told the court

According to Hurriyet Daily News, a Turkish newspaper, Sierra's family allegedly wrote a letter of forgiveness to Tasali that was going to be read aloud in court. The family didn't attend the trial's opening day

Is there any updates in this case? What is happening about a trial? I have looked out for any updates but nothing seems to be happening.

'The Lord showed me that he wants us to move forward': Widower of American photographer killed in Turkey finds love with her childhood friend

I totally get that he was ready to move forward (and men suddenly widowed with young children often remarry relatively quickly)-- but that article was creepy and I feel like either the new wife/former friend is kind of weird, or the journalist or editor wanted her to come across as really crass.

Ziya Tasalı, the Turkish citizen accused of murdering U.S. citizen Sarai Sierra in Istanbul early last year, has been sentenced to life in prison.

In addition to the life sentence, the Istanbul court fined Tasalı to five years and 10 months for assault, and two years and six months for theft.

Tasalı, also known as Laz Ziya, admitted to killing Sierra during his hearing on June 24, but said he did not rape her, but rather simply attempted to kiss her. He had claimed earlier that he was on drugs at the time and that he killed the woman with a rock following a physical struggle.

All I can say is RIP Serai. I do and have always thought there was more to this story than a random vagrant high on drugs killing this talented soul. The latest Daily Mail article only serves to confirm it IMHO.
