I want to celebrate, but I cant do it on the back of this nauseating crime. Congratulations to you and yours, Ann-TX. We stand with you, we will continue to fight with you.

Take that Abigail. Your daughter is in the history books and you arent even a footnote except as the architect of her demise.

Woo hoo! I'm crying right now. Thinking of you, sweet little Emma.

Fly high Emma! I'm looking forward to Abby having to settle into prison for several more years after she gets denied this year! Ann, do we have any word on when we will hear the news of the parole board's decision?

GOVERNOR SIGNS EMMA'S LAW

JUNE 17TH, 2013) FSW

KWHI - Brenham, TX

Abigail Young will not be eligible for parole for several years after Gov. Rick Perry signed Emma’s Law into law this weekend.

Abigail Young, the former Brenham nurse was convicted of neglecting her four year old daughter, Emma Thompson, while her boyfriend, Lucas Coe repeatedly beat, abused, then killed her, in June of 2009. She was sentenced to 20 years in prison for that crime but has been up for parole several times.

That will not happen for another five years according to Emma’s Law. Gov. Rick Perry signed House Bill 431 on Saturday,

Under this new law, anyone convicted of a felony against a child is eligible for parole once every five years.

The bill received overwhelming support in both the House and Senate.

After more than three years fighting in memory of her niece, Amanda Mathews says the battle in the court is over.

"Now it becomes a law and it's going to be named Emma's Law. It got huge support from the house and the senate,” explained Emma’s aunt, Amanda Mathews.

I 100% oppose the early parole of Abigail Young. What this "Mother" did was perpetuate the abuse, torture and murder of her sweet, innocent daughter, Emma. Have you seen that little face? How could she? Three years on a 20 year sentence? It hardly seems more than a slap on her wrist. And if that is all that she had done to her daughter that night was given her a slap on the wrist, she wouldn't be sitting in jail right now. And the fact that a mother did this is so abhorrent.

Thank you for your kind consideration.

Thank you everyone on this site for your hard work, especially AnnTX!

Emma Thompson's last Christmas - December, 2008

01012EMMATHOMPSON.JPG

2mpidrt.jpg

Emma Thompson's last Easter in Brenham, TX at the family ranch - 4/12/2009

Emma Thompson deceased: 6/27/09

Emma was still a happy little girl when this picture was taken on Easter Sunday (per her maternal aunt, Amanda Mathews).

Emma's mother, Abigail Young, brought her boyfriend, Lucas Coe, into her home in May, 2009
and that is when Emma's abuse started which escalated to sexual abuse and eventually the
fatal day in June, 2009 when Emma was brutally raped and beaten to death by Lucas Coe.

Per trial testimony in the trials of Abigail Young and then Lucas Coe, Abigail Young, a highly trained
Registered Nurse (at the time) did not protect her daughter, Emma, but she did bleach (destroy evidence) her bathroom
before attempting to seek medical aid for an apparently already dead Emma in an effort to protect Lucas Coe.

Per trial testimony, Abigail Young 'cleaned' Emma before removing her from the home and driving down the street,
stopping and pulling Emma from her car.

Strangers stopped on the side of the road and called 911 and strangers gave Emma CPR while the highly trained Registered Nurse, Abigail Young,
was on the phone with her boyfriend, Lucas Coe. Per trial testimony and cell phone records introduced into evidence, Young was on
the phone the entire time and finally got off of the phone as Emma was being transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital, The Woodlands, TX.

Per trial testimony, Abigail Young told the stranger (a nurse) who was giving Emma CPR on the side of the road to quit because
Emma "was gone." The nurse ignored Abigail Young's request.

The nurse continued to give Emma CPR until EMS arrived and EMS did all they could to revive Emma to no avail. Emma was
transported via EMS ambulance to Memorial Hermann Hospital in The Woodlands, TX where efforts continued to revive her until
a doctor ordered efforts to discontinue because Emma was dead and could not be revived. Per trial testimony, the nurse indicated
efforts to revive Emma continued for a very long time.

The Emergency Room nurses that tended to Emma the night she was brought to Memorial Hermann became very emotional during their testimony and
cried as they were questioned about Emma. They described the injuries of barely 4-year-old Emma as the horrific pictures of sweet little Emma were introduced into evidence and projected on 3 huge screens within the Court Room.

When asked what was the first thing she noticed from a distance as she approached the "room" Emma was in, the head ER nurse said
she noticed the beautiful, vibrant red hair.

Upon closer examination, she noted that Emma's hair should have been saturated in blood from the large fracture
in the skull. With that type of injury, Emma would have bled profusely and her hair should have been saturated in blood but instead it was very clean
and very little blood. It was evident that Emma's hair had been washed and she was "cleaned" up prior to being taken from her home in an attempt
to seek medical aid.

The nurse described the horrific injuries she observed and the contusions/bruises; especially between the legs (thigh area and above). Before tending to injuries, the nurse testified that their priority in an emergency situation is to get the patient to breathe and then tend to the injuries. Emma could not be revived.

Abigail Young, as a mother and highly trained Registered Nurse, who was working in Labor & Delivery at a well known hospital in the Houston, TX area in 2009, did nothing to protect or save her precious daughter, Emma Thompson! She did protect Lucas Coe.

Abigail Young should serve all 20 years of her sentence. Serving less than 3 years of a 20 year sentence does not warrant parole in the horrific rape and murder of her daughter, Emma!

If you have not written a letter opposing parole for Abigail Young, please do so immediately. Info on who to send it to is posted upthread.
NO PAROLE FOR ABIGAIL YOUNG!

Thanks for the continued support in seeking justice for precious Emma Thompson.

Emma . . . Gone long before her time . . . . . thanks to her mother's decisions and no protection from her mother who Emma trusted (per her maternal aunt, Amanda Mathews).

Sweet dreams, precious Emma! We all know you are in Heaven walking hand in hand with Jesus, sweet little one!

~~~ Rest in peace, precious Emma! ~~~
There is now Emma's Law in your honor, sweet Emma!
It was signed by Texas Governor Rick Perry on Friday, 6/14/13 (Flag Day).
Emma would have taken the world by storm had she lived. Emma has taken the U.S. by storm because she died.
Her beauty is going to be imprinted on hearts and minds forever...at this writing I cant even remember what Young and Coe look like. The next time I will ever see a photo of them will be when bio mom walks out of the prison doors. It has to be quite a feeling to know that your daughter's beauty and sweetness will always outshine you and your monstrous deed.
I hope Emma's siblings are healing. I am sure that they are some what relieved not to have to worry about their mother being released any time soon.
Sweet baby Emma will now help little ones for eternity! It's a horror that it takes the life of an angel to make real change but I think it's because humans are getting more sick and depraved and inhumane with every year we exist. NO one THOUGHT this was a necessary law 100 yrs ago ......probably would have laughed if anyone said a parent could do it. But today , thanks to (fillintheblank) we need laws like this.
Go baby girl !
Emma's Law became effective immediately when TX Governor Rick Perry signed HB431, now known as Emma's Law in honor of Emma Thompson, on Friday, 6/14/13.
This info is per Leslie French, Clerk - House Committee on Corrections (C200) -- Austin, TX
Leslie does not know if this will affect Abigail Young's case this year since she went into Parole Review status on 4/30/13. Leslie said I will have to check with the Texas Board of Pardons & Paroles as to how it will or will not affect Young's case for 2013 which I will try to do today.
I have a very busy day today and may not be able to research this until Monday, 6/24/13. As soon as I can determine official info regarding Young's case, I will post it here.
