Thank you Thank you for this update. Now to make sure Brandon Lee Cervera pays for his part in the death of his son. May that 3 month old baby Miranda breastfed throughout trial be raised by loving people and never have to suffer at the hands of her parents.

“It was harmful to my client and to her case in chief in that her experts were not able to review them,” defense attorney Anthony Cantrell said. “Importantly, the jury didn’t get to review those records.”

The state argued that the defense had those records as they were admitted in trial, and they didn’t do their jobs in obtaining them.

After hearing both sides, 186th District Court Judge Kristina Escalona denied the request for a retrial, stating the defense didn’t prove what they needed in the hearing to grant it.

Casarez still has an appeal pending with the Fourth Court of Appeals.

Brandon Cervera’s trial date has not been set, but he is scheduled to appear in court in a week

The trial began Monday for a Bexar County man accused of starving his young boy and forcing him to beg for food, three years after the 4-year-old died at a hospital.

unfortunately the only news org that seems to be consistently following the trial is the San Antonio Express and they are paywalled so I cannot access and share any further info about how the trial is going. :(

But in Benjamin's case I wish they could've done more.
Maybe they couldn't ?

The bruises imo weren't caused by the little boy 'poking' his own eyes !
The second link shows him drinking from a water bottle and he looks like he is nearing the end.

I am just floored and so disappointed in this verdict.

squats would help the boy not ask for more bread and it would help make him stronger????? sigh.

I cannot say what I'm thinking.
Imo- he did not 'poke' his eyes, and if he was hitting his head, they forced him to act that way.
Just the fact he was trying to 'sneak' some food speaks volumes.
A child should not have to feed themselves.
And then they put locks on the fridge and cupboards.
