Just came across this case online and could not see anything on NAMUS or Doe Network, or indeed on Websleuths. I thought I would start a thread here in the hope that some of the more experienced sleuthers here might find a link. If there is a thread here for this girl that I might have missed (or a NAMUS and DOE link), please merge or add to the thread.

It's been more than a year since the foggy morning when authorities found a young woman's burning body near Texas 288 in Brazoria County.

Despite intense follow-up and the release of a sketch by Houston Police Department forensic artist Lois Gibson, investigators say they're no closer to learning who the woman was.

"We just can't get her identified," said Investigator Chris DuBois, of the Brazoria County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff's deputies discovered the body of the woman, believed to be in her mid-20s, about 9:30 a.m. Jan. 31, 2011. Passersby had reported a small fire on County Road 60 about 150 to 200 yards east of Texas 288, DuBois said.

"When the patrolmen pulled up, they discovered it was a body that was burning," he said.....

Back in November, our member Ikoihil posted about this victim in Serial Killers: Texas Killing Fields, Mysteries along I-45.

The victim is identified as a black female who was approximately 5 feet, 5 inches tall and weighed about 120 pounds; short, dark hair and wearing large gold hoop earrings. She appears to have a space between her two front teeth.

Unidentified Black Female - Found 01/31/2011 in Brazoria County

On January 31, 2011 at approximately 0830 AM the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office responded to a suspicious circumstances on CR 60 east of SH 288 in Iowa Colony, Brazoria County Texas. This location was found to be approximately 150 yards east of State Highway 28 on the North side of the road and is further described as a grassy area between the highway and a feeder road. This area is a rural farming area that is densely populated. On this particular morning the fog was extremely bad only allowing for minimal visibility up to about 40 yards.

Deputies found what is identified as an African American female that was deceased and set on fire.

The female is believed to be in her late teens to mid 20’s, 106 pounds and is 5’ 05” in height.

Remnants of extensive burned camouflaged style pants were found under the victim. Victim has one piercing in each ear and was wearing a large hoop style earring in her right ear that had clear stones attached. No other articles of describable clothing were found.

Has anyone heard anything else on this case? I remember reading about this when they found her and I just haven't seen or heard any other news since.

Can't find much either. I know she's not listed in NAMUS. Maybe we can contact someone to get her added? That's the first step.
The investigator in 2011, Chris Dubois, is no longer with the BCSO, so I'm searching for who we should contact about this.

I just came back to this...still on my mind. Had any luck finding a contact? I don't know how to go about finding someone who can enter her info into NAMUS... :\

That is strange ralynn. It took me 2nd to realize what I was looking at. The MP, Arnika Miller, went missing in 2010. BUT, there she is in 2013 posting on fb. She does resemble the UID in this thread, the sketch of the UID and Arnika's MP profile pic are so similar. O wonder if she is no longer missing? Never reported as found safe? I know ppl can create fake profiles but that looks like an older version of the MP in 2013 fb profile, using the same name?? Did I understand your questioning her fb profile correctly?

Wow...I guess it has been some time since I've visited this one. The link is no longer valid. I did a quick web search and from what I can tell, she is still missing. I wish I could find out if there have been any updates.

I recently contacted the Brazoria County District Attorney's office to request information on this case as I never heard anything else about it and was interested in whether they had ever identified her.

They responded that she has since been identified but requests that I clarify what documents I'm requesting pertaining to the case. Do you guys have any ideas for what I can request that would be public information? Never done anything like this before and would like to have a bit more closure on the case, but don't know what I'm asking for.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Raylynn. I saw your post in Texas Killing Fields and Mysteries Along I-45/Cases from 2010-Present.

As for requesting specific documentation, I initially thought about a police report, but then I came across this: This information is regarding the public report, the one Joe Blow can walk in off the street and request. It all depends on what role your name is associated to the report as.

The Houston Chronicle did a follow-up a year later here: After a year, burned woman's identity still a mystery. The article/newspaper is loaded with ads and takes a while to load.

Perhaps contact the Chronicle to do a more recent follow-up (professional contacts, etc).

So if she had been identified shouldn't they report that? I'm guessing the family can choose not to have that information put out to the public. I googled and got no new information.
