Sansom Park father charged with capital murder of 2-month-old son
A 26-year-old man is in custody and charged with capital murder in the death of his 2-month-old son.
Joseph Matthew Welborn of Fort Worth was being held in the Tarrant County jail Saturday on a $250,000 bond.
His son, Christian Welborn, died Dec. 21 shortly after being taken to a hospital with a skull fracture.
Tarrant County Sheriff Bill Waybourn said during a news conference Friday that Welborn was home alone with the child when Christian suffered blunt force trauma to his head.
An arrest affidavit says Welborn, who has four other children, initially told investigators that one of Christian's siblings accidentally dropped him, but Welborn then gave conflicting accounts of what transpired.
The other children have been placed in state custody.
