#ArochiTrial Arochi waiving jury punishment & will have judge rule on his sentence instead @FOX4

Rusch speaking directly to Arochi now about jury waiver. First time, to my knowledge, he's spoken aloud here. #arochitrial

I would think the judge would sentence more harshly than the jury

Smart move by the defense, in this trial. The jury would have hanged him, or as close as they were allowed, imo.

Plano Star Courier ‏@planonewspaper 21s21 seconds ago
Rusch: agg kidnapping is a "3G offense," meaning he cannot assess probation for it. Arochi says he is ok with this. #arochitrial

Judge says he will do sentencing on Friday and Arochi will be going to prison #arochitrial

Plano Star Courier ‏@planonewspaper 47s48 seconds ago

"At the end of the hearing on Friday, I will be sending you to prison. Do you understand?" - Rusch #arochitrial

Maybe Judge will allow cameras on Friday since there won't be a jury.

I would think the judge would sentence more harshly than the jury

In this case, probably not so much. The judge will weigh things like precedent of similar sentences, and what is least likely to be overturned as being somehow unjust. The jury would blow right past all that (and also be given wider latitude because it's a jury, with 12 opinions being reflected) and give him what they think is deserved for an abduction in which the victim is never seen or heard from again, presumably at or close to the max end of the scale.

But the jury hasn't heard all the sexually deviant elements and the judge has, right?
I think Roush is very fair though.
