I know his mother died- I think he was trying to stay under the radar. No explanation for him not having an obit.

Playfor5 or any other readers--Do you know where Criscione coached? Have there ever been allegations that he might have sexually abused children? It's my understanding that members of the Lost Boy group were required to supply "fresh" child *advertiser censored* to stay involved in the group.

I'm looking but no luck on the obit. Found an intersesting recap with a number of pics and info. You are correct about your understanding and reporting.

To join the restricted message board, each member had to continually submit child *advertiser censored* to remain in good standing. The site also stored a private library of child *advertiser censored* for members to access.
One defendant charged was a pediatrician from Arizona named Emilio Luna. He fled after being freed on bond and remains still at large.

I wonder if Criscione was not actually homeless in Atlanta but visiting David Fagerness:

http://www.examiner.com/crime-in-at...ing-lost-boy-child-*advertiser censored*-ring

I had a picture in my mind of Criscione being down and out and using the library computer as he was homeless. That could be correct but he sure wouldn't be the first guy to access or download some nasty stuff at the library, in hopes of not being traced. I have a suspicion that he must have been producing some new and recent images for the other members of the group to be allowed to continue as a member in good standing.

I've also found it very interesting that Azov Films of Eastern Europe (Crimea) shut down their website of "little boy erotica" and naturist films at the same time that the Lost Boys were being rounded up. From the link above:

"....Eurojust provided U.S. law enforcement with leads obtained from Norwegian and Italian authorities indicating that a North Hollywood, Calif., man was communicating with an Italian national about child *advertiser censored* and how to engage in child sex tourism in Romania...."

Doesn't that sound like it must be Criscione?

Aren't they one man short? Also from the link above:

"...Federal authorities, working in conjunction with a coalition of international law enforcement agencies, shut down the Lost Boy bulletin board approximately two years ago. As a result of the investigation, sixteen named defendants have been charged in the United States for their roles in the ring. To date, five defendants have pleaded guilty for their roles, and an additional two defendants have agreed to plead guilty.

An additional eight defendants who are alleged to be Lost Boy members currently face federal charges, including engaging in a child exploitation enterprise, a crime that carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 20 years in prison.

Through the Lost Boy investigation and related investigations, law enforcement authorities in the United States identified and arrested 15 alleged Lost Boy members..."

Yes, that's him. His full name was James Paul Criscione. We know (according to the SS index) that he died in Pasadena, CA on June 10, 2010. That jives with what LE said about him dying in custody. What doesn't make sense is that there are no prisons, jails or federal holding centers at the zip code given for his place of death. I couldn't find any hospitals at that zip code either. And where's his or his mother's obit?

Playfor5, you said he coached Little League. I did find a minor league player from NJ named Jim Criscione. He played in the 70s. That would be about the right age. But IIRC, you said that he'd grown up in the house in El Monte. I can find absolutely nothing about him being a coach. And you said he was popular. I'm surprised that there's nothing at all out there about him coaching. I'm also surprised that boys who were coached by him are not posting somewhere about the fact that he coached them.

The big question is where did he get the photos that kept him active in this group?

Missizzy,
Yes- it's odd there is nothing on the net about him coaching.

Izzy, go to google news archives, right? Put his name in minus the middle name. There's a paper called India Times or something like that. It states he died in custody and that he was pictured in December 2010. Maybe it's a misprint or something. Very odd. Very odd.

I see that on Google Archives but no article comes up. What I think it is is the announcement of the bust. They displayed Criscione's photo at the Press Conference on December 14th (I've seen a number of the photos of that presser) and announced that he'd already died in custody.

Here's one of the articles with photos of Criscione:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...red*-ring-posted-photos-online-broken-up.html

"...53-year-old James Criscione of Los Angeles, who accessed the site through public computers at the library, died in custody this year while awaiting charges...."

So, he was long dead by the time the bust was announced. I still find it weird that he died in custody "awaiting charges". Doesn't that seem odd? Aren't you charged, indicted, and/or arraigned within a certain number of days? Maybe he died of injuries related to his arrest or of a suicide or of natural causes.

Maybe he's not really dead. That keeps popping up in my mind. That's a scary thought that I don't like one bit. I want to find out where this man is buried or some sort of confirmation of death. Yes, I know it's on the SS index but still......

Surely his victims must be out there and watching. I'm sure they'd like some closure.

An update on one of the Lost Boys group. Just one question. If the investigators could never get beyond the security walls, how did they bust the site?

Man Who Advertised, Received Child *advertiser censored* Gets 15 Years
November 2, 2011

"A judge sentenced a man to prison for his involvement in the distribution of child *advertiser censored* on Wednesday. Christopher Klein was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison after he pled guilty to two counts of receiving and advertising child *advertiser censored*..."

and

"....Klein was arrested by federal officials in January as part of an international child *advertiser censored* sting called Operation Lost Boys. According to his attorney, Klein was instrumental in the design and operation of a child *advertiser censored* Web site called Lost Boys, a digital trading post where members would share images of children being sexually exploited and assaulted. Klein's message board was so sophisticated, that prosecutors said they could not get beyond its security walls..."

and

"...Along with pictures and videos of children, none of whom were found to be local, was something called the Handbook Project. The government said the handbook discussed the use of drugs and alcohol to lower inhibitions of young boys and sleeping pills so the children can be molested while they are not conscious..."

and

"...The government caught on to Klein after the help of an informant who only knew him by his screen name, Mr.Bean. Klein is said to be cooperating with police in the case. One of the victims is seeking $3.3 million in damages; the judge has yet to rule on the amount...."

A horribly disturbing update on one of the arrested, Jeffrey Greenwell and his cohort, Evan Batton:

http://www.riverfronttimes.com/2012...ffrey-greenwell-evan-batton-antonio-cardenas/

When federal investigators busted Jeffrey Greenwell outside St. Louis, they hit the kiddie-*advertiser censored* jackpot
January 11, 2012

".....The images, which [Brian] Mize [a forensic investigator with the St. Louis Division of the FBI] had culled from the thousands he'd found stored on hard drives and other media seized from Greenwell's house, depicted various shots of four boys. Mize believed each of the boys had been sexually molested by a man named Evan Batton, a youth pastor at a Baptist church near the city of Dardanelle.

[Captain Jack] Foster [a detective with the Yell County Sheriff's Department in northwest Arkansas] immediately recognized the face of one of the children: "a cute little redheaded kid, wearing an army helmet," he recalls. Later that same day, Foster drove to Batton's house armed with a search warrant and accompanied by a team that included an agent from the FBI's Little Rock Division. When Batton answered the door, the lawmen could see that the pastor wasn't alone. There was a little boy in the house — another face Foster had seen in Mize's dossier...."

and

"....Rather than face a jury trial, Batton agreed to plead guilty to one felony count for the rape of a seven-year-old boy. Now 29, he is serving a 30-year sentence in state prison. He did not respond to two letters from Riverfront Times requesting comment for this story. Yell County Prosecuting Attorney Tom Tatum II says he has chat-room transcripts in which Batton boasts to Greenwell about setting up a webcam in his bedroom in order to record himself having sex with boys....."

The trail of an international child-*advertiser censored* ring led to a tiny house in the woods outside St. Louis
January 12, 2012

"....You wouldn't think so to look at it, but for a brief time in 2009, one little house in Miramiguoa was the focus of significant attention. Back then an incongruous sticker festooned a pane of glass in the front door: the goofy, good-natured visage of the cartoon canine Scooby-Doo.

The man who rented the place wasn't well known to neighbors. No one appeared to take much note of him or the young boy with whom he sometimes came and went.

On the chilly afternoon of October 23, 2009, a team of five state and federal law-enforcement agents drove into Miramiguoa Park and took up positions that offered clear views of the cottage. Two more officers parked up the road, just outside the village. For several weeks the lawmen had been looking into a tip from the Los Angeles Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation....."

First of all, thanks Missizzy for making me and others aware of what's going on.

Thanks to the investigators who have the fortitude to read through and follow through on what are probably the most evil and depraved examples of human beings that exist.

Society needs to know what is actually going on.

Ditto

Extra special thanks Miss Izzy.

More names, in fact more than I've seen in one place:

http://www.laindependent.com/news/l...ild-*advertiser censored*-ring-111905044.html

"... 44-year-old David Michael Fagerness, of Georgia, pleaded guilty Monday to conspiracy to transport child *advertiser censored*. Fagerness, who moved to the Czech Republic after being convicted of possession of child *advertiser censored* in Florida in 2005..."

and

"...The investigation began when European officials learned that a North Hollywood man — Harout Hagop Sarafian, 25 — was communicating with an Italian national about child sex tourism in Romania..."

and

"...The four other defendants who have already pleaded guilty are:

— Andrew Neil Scott, 30, of Michigan;
— Anthony Jasso, 46, of Laguna Beach and Redlands, who also belonged to a Southern California club called "Boy Lovers,'' according to prosecutors;
— Justin Lee, 33, of Phoenix [the pediatric anesthesiologist]; and
— Woodrow Tracy, 65, of Sun Valley"

and

"...Joshua Boras, 33, of Michigan, and Joseph Hines, 21, of Lake Tahoe, are expected to plead guilty..."

and

"...In addition to Sarafian, the other defendants awaiting trial are:

— Ryan Hawthorne, 27, of South Carolina;
— Jason Morris, 45, of Oregon;
— Jonathon Sadduth, 21, of Illinois;
— Futoshi Tachino, 31, of Canada;
— Billy Wade Carroll, 50, of Ohio; and
— Joseph Tierney, a Boston resident, who was working with the Peace Corp in Honduras when he was charged and expelled from that country, prosecutors said.

A 53-year-old Los Angeles lawyer, James Criscione, a registered sex offender, died after being arrested before he could be tried.

Christopher Klein, 46, of Ohio, has been indicted in the case but a trial date has not yet been set because he is also facing child *advertiser censored* charges in Ohio...."

Interesting to note that we've had a handful of guys who have been convicted on child *advertiser censored* charges who have served in the Peace Corps. SHAME!!!!

OK, here's a problem. I'm in Oregon. I want to know where the men charged in this bust lived. There's 43 Jason Morrises in Oregon of the correct age. In fact, one lives 2 blocks from my adult kids who have two children. This is the disconnect that I've mentioned time and again. We get a national news article about a major bust but rarely do the local papers carry the stories of local people who have been charged. Even new names just kind of trickle in without much notice. Why is this??? Why? Don't neighbors and co-workers, employers and fellow church members deserve to know? How about the general public? Wouldn't that be prudent?

So would the "real" Jason Morris of Oregon please wave his hand.

The ever cooperating, child abusing maggot Joshua Boras earned himself 25 years.

Futasi Tachino is busy winning honorable mentions in the PEN musing weather to eat or not to eat in the modern American prison. Not sure if he will get enough time in for that novel.

Mr. C, has he would have the boys call him, coached my son about 10-11 yrs ago in the East Fullerton Little League. At the time he was an attorney with his practice being located in Orange. I believe he was living in the N. OC area. Luckily, I am very hypervigilant in watching out for odd behavior. He would rarely talk directly to the parents and there was little to no eye contact when I would try to confirm things with him that he had told my son. My red flag went up when he invited my son and his friend, another team player to Disneyland without talking to us (the parents) first. Because of my uneasiness with him, we told him that our boys could go but their fathers would go as well. He didn't pursue it any further. After that, I went to a friend who was on the board and told him I was not comfortable with him as a coach, especially since he didn't have a child on the team. I was assured that he was a good guy, that he had coached before when his son was playing and missed it so that was why he came back. I was also told he would be monitored as well. I still didn't trust him and made the other parents aware of my concerns. I stayed for all the practices and never let my son be alone with him. There was one boy that I found out later was getting rides home from Mr. C after the practices/games. The boys thought it was cool cuz he drove a yellow corvette. I don't remember his name, though, and after the news broke on this it has really bothered me. I would bet money that there are boys out there that have been abused by him but I don't know how to go about finding them and helping them if they need it. I wish he would have had to go thru the humiliation of a trial but I'm sure the judgement he has received is far worse than we can imagine. I, too, would like to know the circumstances of his death. Hopefully, it was painful!

izonu--Thank you for your post. I'm so sorry that you crossed paths with Criscione but very relieved that your son was not abused by him. How I hope other victims step forward and make full reports. Even though the man is dead, the authorities need to review this guy's contact with children over the years.

I spent weeks trying to figure out the circumstances of Criscione's death but was never successful.
