Felishia Pearson, 28, was last seen on July 14 in the Longview area and might be in danger, according to the Gregg County Sheriff’s Office.


Pearson is described as having brown eyes and hair. She is 5 feet, 2 inches tall and weighs 140 pounds. Pearson has a tattoo that reads “Autum” on her chest.

Anyone with information about Pearson’s whereabouts is asked to contact Investigator Ben Reynolds at (903) 236-8400.

The Longview Police Department has identified the body discovered in the woods Tuesday.

Longview police identified the body as Felisha Pearson, 29, of Longview. Pearson was reported missing by her family on July 15. According to the police report, she was staying at a hotel with another person when she left and never returned.

A former Gregg County sheriff’s lieutenant in 2006 named Burnette as a suspect in a 2006 unsolved murder. Reports at the time said two hunters had found a woman’s still unidentified body, face-down in a burning wood pile, in woods off Fritz Swanson Road in the Kilgore area....

July 20 — Gregg County Sheriff's investigators executing warrant to arrest Burnette for failing to register as a sex offender discover he and Pearson had been living together but had left with no forwarding address.

Monday — Gregg County Sheriff's Office issues public plea for Pearson's whereabouts as missing person.

Tuesday — Gregg County Sheriff's Office issues public plea for Burnette's whereabouts. That day, a body
as found in woods off West Birdsong Street.

Wednesday — Burnette arrested in Upshur County.

Thursday — Longview police report body found on Tuesday was Pearson, 28. Same day, Burnette is transferred to the Gregg County Jail where he remained Friday on $500,000 bond on the failure-to-register charge and without bail on a bond revocation from the April 2017 indecent exposure count."

KLTV : Suspect in Felisha Pearson murder indicted in 2006 Lavender Doe murder case

A man who is suspected of murdering a Longview woman is now a suspect in the murder of a second, unidentified woman, whose body was found in 2006.

Joseph Wayne Burnette has been indicted in connection with both cases, officials said during a Monday afternoon joint press conference with the Gregg County Sheriff's Office and the Longview Police Department.

Officials say he confessed to both murders during the course of the investigation.

Felisha Pearson died after her boyfriend, Joseph Burnette, 41, strangled and killed her in a motel where they lived together. Burnette then moved Felisha’s body to a wooded area. Felisha’s family reported her missing, and her remains were found several days later. Authorities initially arrested Burnette, a convicted sex offender, for failure to register an address change. Burnette confessed to strangling Felisha. He also confessed to strangling Dana Lynn Dodd to death in October 2006. Burnette served a 10-year sentence that ended in 2017 for failure to register as a sex offender and has a history of violence against Felisha, including previous strangulation. Authorities charged Burnette with two counts of murder and failure to register an address change. Felisha is survived by her daughters.

According to the Gregg County Courts Records website, Joseph Burnette is pleading guilty to the murders of Dana Dodd and Felisha Pearson. The plea hearing is on 12/15/2020 at 3:30 PM.
