Yes. Agree. Never meant to minimize her guilt. Only questioning the sentence which is really too complicated to mention. Wish I hadn't. You would have to work in corrections to get it. There just are so many other ways. Other than 10 years in State prison only. I don't agree with the hard time 10 years in State Prison. Period. One year in State prison is like 3 years. Nothing like you could ever imagine in your wildest dreams.

Sit in your bedroom for one week. Don't leave except maybe some time in your living room and yard for a few hours here or there. Have your partner bring your 3 meals to you. No choice in menu. Lights out at 9 10 or 11. Depending on facility. You would crack up in a week. You would be done. Now imagine 10 years.
That is pretty much how I live, without the partner to cook my meals since the lockdown.
And also, as a young woman training to be a RN, I did live like that. One small bedroom, a communal lounge area, meals served in a dining room with maybe two choice and slopped on plates, a curfew of 10pm for twenty year olds who were grown up enough to assist in operating theaters and lay dead people out, but not mature enough to stay out after 10pm.

Thanks for bringing up a picture of "confinement."

I'm not talking about guilt or punishment of any defendant/convicted here including AG but just want to acknowledge how during the past few months of self-imposed shelter in place and/or quarantine during the unprecedented global pandemic, I've actually thought a lot about the lives of prison inmates.

I think tampering with the human psyche the worst punishment, let alone the conditions of state prisons in general. I'm surprised anybody survives 10 years. MOO

Representative Carl O. Sherman Sr. Introduced Bo’s Law Sunday

During a news conference Sunday afternoon, State Representative Carl O. Sherman, Sr. announced his plans to introduce Bo’s Law into the 87th Legislative Session.

Representative Sherman is proposing legislation to cleanup ambiguous guidelines in the current castle doctrine and standardize body cam policy. The legislation named Bo’s Law in honor of Botham Jean, (an accountant at the international auditing firm PriceWaterhouseCoopers) who was killed by an off duty police officer when she set off a chain of events by entering into Botham’s apartment fatally shooting him.

thank you...watching now.....always wondered about her complaints of noise from an apartment.....was it his? talked about in MSM but never confirmed the apartment that she was reporting.

I missed the first 15 minutes (forgot it was on tonight)--- I don't think it was ever verified that she made any noise complaints, but I am not 100% sure about that.

initially, it was noted in news media in Texas...nothing about it tonight...so far....I've always found that to be an interesting omission.

I missed what happened to the coworker she was having the affair with?

They never really followed up on the co-worker. All in all i thought the program was very well done---- My heart goes out to this family. In every picture of Botham Jean he was smiling- he was a good man-- to think of how he was murdered by a police officer, sitting on his couch eating ice cream, is almost to much to even think about. It is horrible. I think her sentence was fair. I think Amber Guyger was initially very sorry- you heard her phone call- but once she got lawyered up her attorneys developed a defense that was a lie: that Botham Jean was coming towards, threatening her, her so she shot him.I believe the autopsy proved that to be a lie.

Agreed. She shot him cold and lied about it.

I don't believe one element of her story actually.

I believe she thought it was her apartment--- after that she and her attorneys came up with a self defense theory which was BS

Did they say the reason she was carelessly confused about it being her apartment was because she was upset with her affair partner?

I don't think they know exactly why she got confused: they inferred that perhaps she was distracted because she was texting with her boyfriend just prior to going to her apartment: i think they had an argument and he wasn't planning to see her so she may have been upset and parked her car on the wrong floor--- at least that is the best they can come up with. No one knows for sure though why she got confused. I think the prosecutor stated that there was light coming into Botham Jean's apartment from
the hall so she should have realized pretty quickly it wasn't her apartment. I don't believe for a moment he came at her or threatened her: I think he was so stunned when she walked in he may have gotten up off the couch for a brief second and maybe he started to say something: i would imagine he would have started to say like "who are you"-- but i think he was shot so fast he didn't have time to process what was going on.

Thank you. I wasn’t able to listen to the entirety of it. I thought I heard something about an argument, wasn’t sure if it was as a result of not being able to see him that evening or if he was breaking it off completely with her.
