REMEMBER: Criner will not face the death penalty since he was 17 at the time of the crime. He does, however, face life in prison with a possibility of parole after 40 years, if found guilty.

Back at the courthouse, still waiting for a verdict from the jury in Meechaiel Criner’s murder trial. Not on the clock today, just came to see what happens. The latest? Jury’s been delivered lunch from Schlotzsky’s, an APD detective waiting in the hallway is eating pretzels

Automatic life sentence if convicted of highest charge - capital murder. Would be eligible for parole in 40 years, but not assured of it. Death penalty off the table because he was 17 at time of offense. He turned 18 less than three months after Weiser's death.

Yes, is Criner’s sentence limited to life in prison? Why not death?

Not confirmed. Criner's lawyers showed jury photo of another man who police spoke with after the incident. The man has a strong physical resemblance to Criner and, like Criner, wears black glasses.

Was Criner confirmed to be the person on the surveillance video? How many people wear orange bandannas around their neck?

The jury has officially been in deliberations for over ten hours. Remember that there were seven full days of testimony in this case. The prosecution presented — I believe — over 400 exhibits of evidence to the jury.

We've seen the prosecutors & defense go back & forth a few times today--could be jury is asking for more evidence to look at? That possibility would make sense...7 days of testimony, almost 4 hours of closing arguments, & around 400 exhibits in this case. Lots to look at/consider

The judge is in, along with prosecutors and defense. Waiting on the jury. We'll hopefully hear a verdict shortly.
