What’s next in the Hazana Anderson death investigation?

October 29, 2020

GALVESTON, Texas (KBTX) - It was exactly two years ago today, on Sunday, October 28, 2018, that Hazana Anderson was reported missing by her mother at Gabbard Park in College Station. TiAundra Christon claimed the child went missing from her stroller in the middle of the day and the community immediately began a frantic search to find her.

Christon was released in April on a reduced bond of $100,000 by Galveston County’s 56th District Court Judge Lonnie Cox. Her trial has been postponed several times this year due to the pandemic but her next scheduled trial date is now 9:00 a.m. on December 8. According to online court records, Christon, now 23, resides at a home in College Station.

In November 2019, Hewett pleaded guilty to the tampering charge and was sentenced to a maximum of 20 years in prison.

Due to the plea, he can’t appeal the case, but he’s up for parole as early as February 2021. Currently, he’s serving out his sentence at the Garza West prison in Beeville, Texas.

This is infuriating. Two years later and nobody has been charged with the beating murder of this poor child. The bf pleads guilty to the "tampering" with a body charge and is sentenced to 20 years, with the ability to be granted parole next February! Killer mom was charged with "tampering" and pled not guilty and was released on a reduced bond last April. The two of them are getting away with murder.

I am thankful for the findings and judgement currently. Also thankful they didn’t push charges they couldn’t currently substantiate. Still holding out hope for further justice.

Galveston County Assistant District Attorney Justine Tan told KHOU in Houston that authorities were unable to charge Christon or her then-boyfriend, Kenny D’Shawn Hewett, with murder, despite Christon’s admissions about Hazana’s death.

“The medical examiner testified that she could not determine a cause of death or a time of death of the child,” Tan said in a statement. “She also testified that the injuries that caused the bruising to the child would not have been sufficient to cause her death.”
