On October 11, 2018 police were called to a home in the 2000 block of Irving Place. They found 2-year old Jason Wilder McDaniel dead.
 
The day was Oct. 11, and Bubba McDaniel was in a truck with some co-workers when he received a call that changed his life forever. A Wichita Falls Police officer called him, and after McDaniel asked the officer if his son, 2-year-old Wilder McDaniel, had died, the response was devastatingly deafening.
 
During his podcast appearance McDaniel stated that UFC President Dana White shared the post on Instagram and that this led to an overwhelming amount of donations. The page has currently raised over $29,000 towards a goal of $35,000.

On the Slip N Dip Podcast McDaniel revealed that as the days wore on he learned more about the circumstances surrounding his son’s death. McDaniel stated that his son had died at a home belonging to a man who was in a relationship with his son’s mother.
 

With no arrests made in the death of Jason Wilder McDaniel's death the community along with his parents were planning to peacefully protest outside the Wichita Falls Police Department
 
Wichita Falls police have been investigating the death of Jason Wilder McDaniel, 2, since the initial call on Oct. 11, 2018.

On Monday, Jan. 28, detectives received the cause of death report from the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences at Dallas.

DALLAS COUNTY, TX (TNN) - A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed against the former boyfriend of Jason Wilder McDaniel’s mother.
The civil lawsuit filed by Amber Odom and Bubba McDaniel in Dallas County accuses James Staley III of Wichita Falls of being solely responsible for the 2-year-old’s death.
 
37 year old James Staley III has been arrested in connection with the death of Wilder McDaniel. He is currently being held in the Okmulgee County Jail awaiting extradition to Wichita Falls to face charges
 
Staley knew a murder probe would ensue when he staged the child's body to mislead investigators about the cause of Wilder's death and where it occurred, according to allegations in the indictment.

Amber Nichole McDaniel, 31, is charged with tampering with physical evidence and endangering a child in connection with incidents Oct. 11, 2018, the day her son was discovered dead, according to allegations in court records.
The charges came after a Secret Service lab broke into the cell phone of the man accused of murdering her child, according to court records
