Mooresville man accused of sex crimes on the run in Texas with 3 kids, police say

1. JW is believed to be traveling on foot with his three children in the Rio Medina or Castroville area.
2. Sheriff Randy Brown said Wright was traveling with his wife and five children when their car broke down.
3. The family took off on foot and decided to live off the land.
4. JW’s wife and two older children were seen walking to a store in Rio Medina.
5. A deputy stopped them and found out the family was on the run.
6. The wife told LE that JW has multiple warrants out of Mooresville for sex crimes against minors.
7. Wright’s children are not associated with those warrants.
8. The children were last seen on Monday with their dad near Settlers Pass, a neighborhood in Rio Medina.

Apparently, they have spent three weeks camping out in the Rio Medina area (I assume it is primitive camping)

It's 5 miles from Settlers Pass to the Rio Medina general store.

Wonder what they were doing there? Maybe they were traveling though on Highway 90, but wouldn't they want to primitive camp near Castroville?

Maybe they know someone in the area?

After their car broke down—Sheriff Brown says they spent three weeks camping out, although it’s not clear how long they may have been in South Texas.

People living in the Settler’s Pass neighborhood believe Wright’s wife was seen in the area days ago.

This weekend, she and her two older kids were seen walking away from a general store in Rio Medina near the intersection of FM 471 and FM 2676—where deputies made contact.

Sheriff Brown said the mother was with her two teenage boys at the time.

“She said they had been living in the woods and her husband is wanted…She’s still in a safe place and she will not leave until she has her babies back with her,” Sheriff Brown said the mother is a victim herself.

Deputies say they'll continue their search until the children are found, even if that means searching through Christmas.

MEDINA COUNTY -- A wanted man and his three kids reported missing out of Medina County have been found.

The Amber Alert for Jonathan Wright -- and his three kids Lucas, Ariana, and Jonathan -- was canceled by the Texas Dept. of Public Safety Sunday night at 11:15 p.m.

The four were found hiding in the woods behind the Settler's Pass subdivision in Hondo, officials tell us.

Jonathan Wright, the children's father, was taken to Medina County Jail. Wright was wanted out of North Carolina on six counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

The Amber Alert was initially issued on Dec. 21 and prompted a search from agencies to find the children after officials learned Wright and the children were camping out in the woods, with no food, water or a vehicle.

I hope he doesn't hurt them and it doesn't sound like that's his intent.
Why did he leave with the kids? Were he and the mother in a custody dispute?

Or had he mistreated her, perhaps, but not the children? So hoping the kids are safe fed, and happy with some presents from daddy. And on the way back to their home.
