There are probably some of you who are close...Lubbock is about 2 hrs EAST of Seymour, Smyer is another 30ish minutes EAST. Makes no sense if he went to DFW, back to Seymour, then 2 hrs east to Lubbock, then Smyer, you have to go back to Lubbock did get a main road SOUTH towards San Angelo/Abilene, which is another 2 hrs SOUTH...

What I am finding very odd is that in all these trips from one place to another - no one actually saw Joe???? I know his Mom spoke to him before the holiday but aside from his friend - no other in-person contact with anyone else???? I agree with Eileen - you can't judge if someone was home by an unmade bed or toothbrush left out.

I've been to DFW (the airport) a few times, and I think they take pictures of your plates coming & going- the airport parking is tied to the toll system. Of course not everyone uses the toll system, but surely they capture all the plates.

Actually I'm not sure if he went to DFW the airport, or simply an airport in DFW, which could be Love Field (DAL).

Lots of holes that seem like they could easily be filled in by LE.

The family of Joseph William Garcia are very grateful for this forum. What do you do without individuals that can think clearly and rationally at a time like this? You have brought up such informative information and we are trying to check out every avenue that you have suggested. Thank You! Sharon H Joseph's sister

Just bringing this forward for clarification from janetlaurie. So, phone records show Joe left DFW, drove to Lubbock, drove back the Seymour, and finally down to Abilene?

What I believe is something happened when he went home to Seymour.....and someone drove his car to where it was found. That's just what I think but I have no proof of any of my thoughts ! I know his brother sister in law and wife spent most of the day with Seymour police , not sure what or if they found out anything .tomorrow will be going to Abilene but doubt they will find out much there! When asked why fingerprints weren't taken the trooper told joes sister in law it wasn't his job and he didn't know how! What??!! Wouldn't a fingerprint person be called in? I just don't get it and get more frustrated everyday !

Well His employers might be able to say if he showed up every day on time or if he was often absent. The ppl that see him every day might have a better picture.

Joe always showed up for work as far as I know . He loved his job and what he did ! He was a heavy equipment operator! He went to Texas because of the job and the pay!

My guess is that a check of electronic devices will provide the most helpful information. Web history, phone calls and text messages, emails, etc. If he was making plans, he likely communicated or researched to develop those plans. Make sure to check his phone's mapping application to see if he put in an address. If he was going to Abilene, he likely needed to follow some kind of directions. After all, he hadn't been in Texas long, from what I understand. Don't forget to look for receipts in his vehicle and in his home.

Given what I'm reading about LEs response thus far ( and I must say my jaw dropped about the fingerprint response) - I'm wondering if a PI would be best. If the family doesn't have the funds to hire one - I've seen Go Fund Me accounts set up so that family and friends /co-workers could contribute. If the press runs another followup story they could link it to the article . If not - Is there someone in charge at LE that this case be escalated to besides the trooper who found the car? Chief of Police? The Texas SAR team mentioned earlier is one of the best and may have suggestions . I'm frustrated just reading this thread and can't imagine how the family must feel. Several missed opportunities for fingerprints were lost but maybe they can still try other objects in the car. No highway cameras nearby or near his home ? Just trying to throw as many thoughts out there as I can in case one can help pinpoint his whereabouts after the airport .

Was he recently paid - and possibly carrying cash? Any withdrawals from ATM?

Thank you for your thoughts! He was paid on the 2nd and cashed his check! When they found his wallet in his car there was 200. In it. Yes the troopers don't seem to want to do anything. They're saying it's up to Seymour police cause that's where Joe lived! Yet the car and phone is in their possession as far as I know! Very frustrating!!

See message number 43 in this thread. I understood that message to say that the Seymour Police told John that they pulled Joe's phone records and they indicated that he did make it back to Seymour.

But my question is did anyone SEE him. Anyone can have his phone.I know what John is saying....
seems John has all the info here and hes not even a family member.
Im sorry if im a bit skeptical.

Has anyone spoken to the ppl he works with?
these are the ppl he sepnds most of his time with.
Maybe he said something to someone about something.

To find his truck still runniing along a highway and the owner nowhere to be found and reported missing I think they have to look into this.
Where is the truck? they really need to print it.there has to be someone u can call.

I have another probing question for Sharon H or janetlaurie. Please answer only if you are comfortable. I am wondering if Joe is estranged from his current wife? I believe it was stated that Joe went to Seymour for a his job. I know the distance between Joe and where his wife lives is significant, however for a three day weekend I would have thought that one of them would travel to the other or meet in the middle?

The lack of cooperation and investigation from LE in Taylor county is unbelievable! When a vehicle is found running and in gear and the cell phone and wallet are still in it, why would anyone consider it an "abandoned vehicle"? Either something happened to the driver of that vehicle or the vehicle was deliberately placed there by someone else.

I hope Seymour LE is willing to share (with Joe's wife) the cell phone records they pulled. Perhaps with those records the family can get a better idea of Joe's movements over the weekend.

It was also stated up thread that LE did a search of the area where the truck was found. I wish we knew how big of an area they covered and how many officers were involved. I hope that another search effort is made in that area by an experienced SAR team.

John stated up thread that he was following a strong lead. I wish he would come back and let us know if that led anywhere. Also John stated that the family hired a Private Investigator. I am wondering if that is true?

Sharon and janetlaurie...praying that you get good news very soon!

I think at this point the Rangers need to get involved. Texas Equusearch would be awesome, but they will not search unless a request is made by LE. Just the family asking them to search isn't enough.

The squeaky wheel gets the oil. :) If I were a family member I would be raising all sorts of hell in every police station that has been involved in ANY piece of this situation. Stand in the middle of the station and scream:

"I'm not leaving until someone gives me some *bleeping* answers! I am not going to go away, I'm going to go to the national news and tell them you told me finding a missing person "isn't your job"! I'm not going to take no for an answer - and don't tell me it's not your job because IT IS YOUR JOB!"

And then, because I'm kinda crazy like this, I'd throw in "If you want to tell me it's not your job, that's fine, then I'll make it mine...but don't you DARE step in when I find out information and serve up justice without you" - and then I'd start walking out.

GUARANTEE YOU someone will stop you. You will get SOMONE'S attention. You aren't making a direct threat to anyone in particular - you are making a statement that won't allow them to ignore the severity of the situation. Demand someone do something. Do NOT take "we can't do that" or "this isn't our jurisdiction" BS answers - find out who's jurisdiction it is, and go to them...keep being loud and annoying until one of these jackholes gets so annoyed they either tell you what they know (and are working on) or they take some action.

No way in hell would I be tolerating the "not me" games they are playing. I'd be so damn annoying to every single person on that force it would drive them insane...

I agree and joes sister in law has been drilling the trooper! I do know that! When asked if the area had been searched his answer was yes I searched it! A one man search.....wow! See what happens today ? A possible visit with Smiths superior! I'm sure that will happen!!!

That's great to hear! Hopefully more news comes today! Still saying prayers for Joe and the family for his safe return. :)

Was Joe supposed to pick up the friend from the airport when he returned?
