Hello, I'm new to this. From Canada and theres a pretty well known small town case that has very many similarities to Kim's case. I called the 800# for Texas missing persons but they pretty much said that if she was taken out of the country, they would have taken her to mexico. I DID tell the woman to call me crazy because the chances of these two cases actually being connected is about a billion to one.... But I wanted to share here anyway. I would love to hear some feedback. https://www.opp.ca/index.php?id=115&entryid=56c5c7ae8f94ac3f1d5821b6
I want you to not focus so much on the initial appearance in the photo because its only basically a playdoh version of what the artist thought she might look like.... Instead, look at things like her jaw line and her nose and cheekbones. Pair that with matching height, age, hair colour and approx size.... In another link about the unidentified female they say the estimated time she had been deceased before being found on Dec 30, 1984 is between 2-4 months. Kim had been missing for nearly 3 months by then. Its only about a day and a half drive from where she went missing to where this girl was found, if there were 2 drivers who didn't take many breaks. Probably a little longer in '84 if not all those highways existed yet. Again, I know it's soooooo far fetched! But there are just too many coincidences for me to be able to just put it out of my mind.
Anyway, I just need someone else to point out a reason why these two could not possibly be the same person! Thanks.

RGV True Crime: The nationwide search of a Mercedes mother remains unsolved 37 years later | KVEO-TV

MERCEDES, Texas (ValleyCentral) — Kim Sue Leggett, the Mercedes woman’s disappearance that caught the eyes of the nation still remains unsolved 37 years later.

Kim Sue Leggett was abducted on October 9, 1984, from the Ross Cotton Gin in Mercedes between 4:30 p.m. and 4:45 p.m.

The 21-year-old woman worked at the gin that her father-in-law owned as a secretary.

Leggett’s step-father, Lefty Gardner, received a ransom telephone call from a man within a few minutes of her abduction.

There are two things that struck me about this case that I just came to know about...
the timing... Kim's abduction took place over the course of half an hour, and her kidnappers even had time to make one or two calls to her parents before driving off with her at 5pm... seems a bit odd, doesn't it? That two men, or whoever was in the two cars, wanted to kidnap her and took 30 minutes (even while visibly standing) to do so? Obviously, either Kim knew about it or the kidnappers explained the circumstances to her and then proceeded to kidnap her...
the lack of suspicion surrounding Mark Leggett, her husband, and her father-in-law was the owner of the company Kim worked for (presumably he would have kept some record of who visited the cotton gin) and the other was her husband; It's hard to believe that neither of them had any involvement in the disappearance of someone so close to them... the fact that Mark filed for divorce isn't enough proof on its own, as each (in theory) grieves differently, but it's still a strange step without knowing for sure if she's dead or really gone...
As crazy as it may seem, it could certainly have been a retaliation against Lefty that just went wrong... Angry business partners, a Mexican drug cartel, a personal vendetta, it's hard to say... in any case, Kim knew and was involved in the kidnapping or was a victim of her stepfather's misdeeds... but could Kim have organized the kidnapping herself to get money from her father-in-law? And then things got complicated and the men involved in the kidnapping killed her? Like in Fargo, but without the husband's involvement, but Kim herself...
whatever the case
Rest in peace
