Bumping up for Shonda.

Some interesting developments in the case of Lois Pearson, who had gone missing very near to Mineral Wells about 2 weeks ago. Not sure if there's any connection to the perp arrested in that case, but you never know. Sounds like this guy may have had a wife go missing at some point as well.

Investigators are looking for possible connections between accused kidnapper Jeff Maxwell and other missing persons cases in North Texas.
Maxwell is accused of abducting a 62-year-old Parker County woman and brutalizing her for nearly two weeks.
Maxwell was arrested at his home near Corsicana on Saturday; the woman was hospitalized.
The other cases date back to 1992, with the disappearance of the suspect's ex-wife, Martha Maxwell.
Then — in 2000 — Amy Smith vanished after her Parker County home burned to the ground.
And just last summer, Shonda Townsend disappeared in nearby Mineral Wells after leaving a friend's house.

There's no one in Shonda Townsend's family who hasn't heard about the Jeff Maxwell kidnap case.
It's all they can think about.
Townsend disappeared mysteriously last year near her home. Maxwell's alleged kidnapped victim lives just 15 minutes away.

There is something that nags me about this. He does have a son around Shonda's age who is friends with neighbors and the kids who have pointed out on the blog. I did some looking around on it after reading about it over there. Not sure but it is nagging at me some. Also with the posts about to look for Shonda on the property. Was taking LP needed to destroy some other sort of evidence? And being this person is a crazy man anyway was this in an effort to help conceal another crime? Just a thought to think about.
 
What I have gathered about The Suspect, The Missing Women and The Investigation...


The Parker County sheriff said authorities plan in the next few weeks to search property in Parker County where Maxwell has lived, looking for clues in any case...

He said investigators will comb through all information related to Maxwell, such as telephone records and bank accounts, to trace his activities.

Maxwell was married at least 3 times and had at least four children, 2 living children.

One child died shortly after birth and the other at age 7.

The First Missing Woman


Martha Maxwell, 41, - the wife.

She has been missing since 1992. He divorced her in 1995. They had a son together.

In 1987 Martha was found dumped, left for dead in Oklahoma.

She was beaten, bound with duct tape, electrocuted, raped, drugged and nearly killed with her throat slashed from ear to ear.

Maxwell WAS charged but a grand jury failed to indict him when Martha quit cooperating. She went back to him and was still with him when she disappeared in 1992.

Martha's family believes he killed her and claims she was burned, tied up and otherwise tortured during their whole marriage.

Amelia "Amy" Martinez Smith, 51, reported missing in 2000 after her Parker County home and car were torched.

Left work on Feb 3, 2000 at 10pm and arrived to an empty home in Parker County. Her husband was visiting his mother, and her children were not home.

Firefighters were called at 4 a.m. Feb. 4. Investigators later determined that the fire had been purposely set.

She hasn't been seen or heard from since, her credit cards were never used.


The 62 year old woman recently rescued... March 2011 She didn't like the suspect and called him "the bad man" especially after he tried to kiss her and groped her.

She was abducted at gunpoint, her house and car were torched 2 days later and she was held captive for nearly 2 weeks... in a "house of horrors."

Chains, handcuffs, gags, leather ankle restraints.... he said he sexually tortured her after stringing her up on a homemade rack used for skinning deer.

Shonda Townsend - 19 - 2010 vanished while driving home after leaving friends in Mineral Wells. Her car was later discovered abandoned.

Even before they rescued the above 62 year old woman, they looked into a possible connection between the cases. They only lived a few miles apart. Shonda's family doesn't believe he is involved but wants it investigated. Police are looking at credit card and cell phone records.

They had scheduled an interview with him, but he requested a lawyer before that. He DID reportedly tell a Texas Ranger that he didn't know anything about Shonda's case.

Shonda is the only younger one, but it also would have been the first time he had a child around that age too. Up until that point these victims are all about 3 years older than him when they disappeared.

The biggest thing that makes me question his involvement (in addition to wondering about whether the age would matter to him) is the fact that her car was not torched.

Why would he change his MO with her, if he then continued it with the most recent victim?

Jane Velez Mitchell is talking about Shonda now.

Her family is on. Her Mom and sister in law.

They don't think that Maxwell was involved because he acts alone... and someone had to take Shonda's car back to where it was found.

The house she left is 25 miles from the family's house.

1 ping off of a tower about 15 miles from the family's house.

Jane is wondering about the items taken from Maxwell's home.... whether any of them will show DNA evidence from Shonda, Amy or any other missing women.

Also mentions that nothing of Shonda's was burned.

The Mom feels she is not getting the information or updates that would make her feel they are doing everything they can. She gets told they will have to ask someone else when she calls and then never gets a call back most of the time. She wants them to come talk to her and let her know what is going on.

Baby Daddy was in jail at the time and still is. Shonda allegedly didn't have a current boyfriend.

The Mom wants police to investigate the baby Daddy's new girlfriend... she and Shonda had a lot of issues all the time.

***I agree 100% with this. I wonder about a woman. Her car was left near a crack house. What better way to make your boyfriend's ex look bad than to make it look like she was there? We had a case like that where the very religious woman was murdered and then left in the parking lot of a bar. Intentionally disrespectful to her. Leaving her car there sounds like something a woman would do... and then the additional knowledge that her car would probably be gutted. If they wanted it stolen they would have left the keys IN it... not across the street. ***
