This story was revived in the news because police released pictures of Mary's remains and the area where she was found. Her cause of death is still undetermined.

I found this interesting from the above link:

That is odd. Maybe it’s just the websleuther in me that finds the whole thing fishy. Were her cats dead from starvation I’m guessing? So sad. [emoji17]

How Skeleton of Woman Ended Up Hidden in a Wall

Video ... warning, some is slightly graphic photos of the skeletal parts. Also has the 911 call in the video.

this is exactly how I believed it happened from the beginning. I have had a relative or two do something similar, but no one got stuck between walls. A foot broke through a ceiling beneath. Most attics are not made with walkable flooring and you have to be so careful.

She had a pretty little house.

ETA: I see a live-trap in one of the pics Gardener linked to above, post #60. I wonder if she was checking the trap or getting ready to use it, if she thought mice or squirrels (or etc.) had gotten up there. She must have been quite tiny to slip beteeen the boards/wall. A really sad ending. I imagine she suffered terribly, knowing she was trapped and not likely to be found in time to save her. :tears:

ETA 2: if she had “a friend or two who would stop by occasionally and check in occasionally” what took so long to go into the house to check? They couldn’t have checked often, then. Even her cats were found dead. How long did mail pile up before neighbors complained/alerted? Was the attic stairs not down? If so ... someone didn't check the attic very well, it seems.

I seem to have even more questions, the longer I think about this now

wow that's cold, I hope the investor who bought it didn't do that :(

its also possible they never went in there.

Oh Lordy... poor Mary.
I don't suppose many WSers are too squeamish, but just in case:
*Graphic Warning*

Video slide-show + full (calm) 911 call as well.

I just hope she died instantly, and was not conscious at all while entrapped. A horrifying thought.

Although I have a good imagination, seeing these just really makes it all the more real and tragic. Poor Mary, all she wanted was to simply live her life in peace, in her little house, with her kittycats. :(

I do find it rather odd that the cages weren't removed, nor that floor-board repaired, when the house was refurbished and rented-out.
I wonder if workers actually discovered it, but then the owner didn't want to get involved in a work-halting legal fiasco and lose money, so chose not to report it.
gosh.... WS has made me become such a cynic. :sigh:

:rose: RIP Dear Mary :rose:

Here's hoping the dear lady had a quick death and didn't feel anything or last too long- how sad.

The poor kitties, that's heartbreaking to read as well- she must have been gone for a bit, for them to be deceased as well.

Just a thought, but when you have a missing homeowner and a house full of dead cats, there should have been a more thorough investigation. They should have gone over every inch of that house, looking for clues. Somebody wasn't doing their job.

There should be laws that before a bank can foreclose, they have to find the homeowner and inform them, or report the homeowner missing. It's ridiculous that a house can be sold with the dead homeowner still inside.

ETA 2 were my thoughts exactly. How often was “occasionally” ?

There was a case a while back, a house bought and the woman had passed and sadly her remains(possible skeleton) was found laying in her bed.

Something like the husband had passed and no one had seen the wife since his passing. They/she had moved here from another country so the neighbors assumed she had returned.

Sad.

I still don't believe she just fell into the wall herself. Especially because early on it was mentioned in some of the articles that the construction workers had said she had died:eek:.. How would they know she had died? Something in this case just never say right.

I know they should of checked the Entire house! Also her body decaying in the wall didn't anyone smell that?? Are people really That money hungry that they just don't care?.. it's just heartbreaking all around.

What happened to Mary -- and whether the remains are hers -- remains a mystery. But the woman, described by many as reclusive, did leave behind a self-portrait of sorts, in dozens of annotated photographs, developed at Walgreens.
