My apologies for the lack of clarification. Yes, I agree that Megan appears to be an exceptionally intelligent, sensible person. I didn't mean she would have gone with someone she'd just met through online gaming, or someone she'd been communicating only online even for an extended period of time.
In this scenario, the perpetrator would have been someone she had met in person at least once, possibly while LARPing or perhaps at some sort of in-real-life gathering for the role-play-gaming community, and she had mutual friends with. In other words, it would have been someone she had no reason to be fearful or suspicious of.
I also think it's possible that there was indeed a LARPing event at LRH or somewhere near there -where there would be people Megan knew-; both the perpetrator and Megan are going, and the perpetrator picks her up. The event starts, the perpetrator and Megan are working together, and the perpetrator suggests to Megan they should go to a particular area to hide, at which point she is attacked. After the event, other players assume that the perpetrator and Megan already left, whether together or separately.
I haven't read anything that suggests Megan went LARPing the evening she was last seen. I just find the following from her obituary curious:
"Friday night was game night for Megan and a group of friends who have been meeting for over 15 years. They shared a passion for strategy and role play. Through hundreds of games their friendships have remained strong."

[There is nothing in the article that suggests the incident was LARP-related.]
