Okay - per a reporter from KHOU, "TESTIMONY DOESN’T BEGIN UNTIL TUESDAY. THIS IS JUST PRE TRIAL MOTIONS BEING FILED TODAY."

So we will leave this thread open until tomorrow and then move to the trial tread. Hopefully we will at least have a twitter link by then.

Trial of woman accused of killing Houston boy set to begin

HOUSTON -
Pre-trial motions were held Monday in the case of a woman accused of killing a 12-year-old boy almost three years ago

Snipped:

Opening statements are scheduled to begin Tuesday.

Nelson has requested a bench trial, so there will not be a jury. A judge will decide her fate.

Here is the tweeter from Ann-TX media source above. https://twitter.com/KPRCLocal2

I'll put it in the trial thread also, just in case they at least tweet about opening statements, etc. tomorrow.

This defense will be SOP, imo. They are going to want to throw out the photos of Jonathan, they are going to ask to have her statements thrown out, they will probably try and step down.

They dont have much to work with here. Not when dealing with an aberration like Mona. I am not trying to be vicious btw. This is how I see her.

Are you referring to still captures from the surveillance footage or crime scene photo evidence? Or are there other photos?

Mona Nelson, accused of killing 12-year-old Jonathan Foster, is in court for pretrial motions in her Capitol Murder case at Harris County Crimminal Courthouse on Monday, August 12, 2013 in Houston.

The defense in a capital murder case is asking a Houston judge to quash statements made by a woman accused of the kidnap-murder of a 12-year-old boy on Christmas eve 2010.

The defendant, Mona Nelson, has taken the unusual step of having her capital murder case heard by a judge, not a jury. The trial opened Monday before Houston district judge Jeannine Barr.

My guess is autopsy/crime scene photos. They may say they are prejudicial.

Nothing new yet on the court records. Just that the trial continues tomorrow.

Has the state given a reason as to why they are not seeking the DP in this case?

Mona Nelson is prolly one of the most scary & evil people I have ever heard about!

Today is the beginning of Justice for you Jonathan!!!

I went back and looked at the timeline/media thread yesterday. I found a lot of written news articles, but I don't think I saw any police reports or interviews. I have to go to work but I will keep looking after I get there.
