The Dallas Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating Myrtle Polk.

On June 11, 2024, at approximately 12:00 pm Ms. Polk was last seen driving a 2004 Black Lexus ES 330 TX LP BV7-K204 in the 1100 block of Indian Creek Trail.

She is 88 years old, 5"02', 120 lbs., with white hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Police Department at 911 or (214) 671-4268.

Some confusion with the last seen date, 6/10 and 6/11 as well.

"The last time she was seen was on Saturday. And she’s 88 years old and has some memory problems. So our concern is that she’s gotten herself somewhere, and she’s confused and doesn’t know where she is. And we just want to bring her home safely," said Phillip Polk, her son.

Polk is known to her community as a matriarch. Her son Phillip Polk says she was last seen on Saturday and knew something was wrong when she didn’t show up to church at the Exciting Singing Hills Baptist Church on Sunday.

Phillip Polk said his mother is a pillar in the community. She taught for nearly 50 years within Dallas ISD schools and served at the church for decades.

The continued search for Ms. Myrtle Polk is only becoming more urgent.

Philip said his mother does have dementia, and right now, he chooses to believe she’s just confused and lost. But he also recognizes at this point police cannot rule anything out.

Last seen appearing to drive towards her home Saturday, though no reports if they think she did or didn't make it home. Didn't show up to church on Sunday, wasn't at home when they checked on her, though they said they weren't too concerned straight away because sometimes she's gone to the store, but were concerned when she still wasn't home Sunday evening. Didn't have her cell phone(owns one but never used it as she preferred the home phone), no credit cards. They said she did carry cash sometimes, but I doubt she had enough cash on her for 2 weeks worth of food and gas.

I wonder how often she goes to visit her husbands grave at DFW national cemetery and if she could have decided to visit him that morning instead of going to church. And then like wendybtn said, ended up in the water at Mountain Creek Lake after taking a wrong turn. Looks to be several places you could end up off the road and right into the water following a dirt path right off the road to the cemetery, just not sure how deep the water is right off the shore. Otherwise there really aren't any other bodies of water in the area she couldn't have ended up near without having gone pretty far out of the way as it doesn't seem like she regularly had any reason to drive outside of her immediate neighborhood.

Unfortunately with as hot as its been, if she were just trapped in her car off the road somewhere after an accident she would have passed by now. And its unlikely that she is in a medical facility as a Jane Doe with the silver alert active as the hospitals would have been checked by now.

For the families sake, maybe she drove to the casino and won a bunch of money and has been living it up and will come home upset at over all the fuss everyone is making.

I do hope they find her, at least for the closure.

Where is Myrtle Polk? It's the question many members of the Oak Cliff community are frantically asking after the beloved 88-year-old woman went missing over two weeks ago in the Singing Hills neighborhood.

Myrtle Polk was last seen driving a black sedan near her home in the 1100 block of Indian Creek Trail in Dallas on June 11.

It’s been 16 days since anyone has seen Philip Polk’s mother, a longtime Oak Cliff area resident.

"My gut tells me she’s waiting to be found," Philip said.

Myrtle’s vehicle is also missing: a 2004 Lexus ES 330 sedan.

Billboards featuring Myrtle Polk, an 88-year-old woman who has been missing since June 10, will soon be seen across Houston.

According to her son, Philip Polk, Myrtle's cell phone was left at home, and there has been no activity on her bank accounts.

Authorities urge anyone who sees someone resembling Myrtle Polk or her Lexus car to contact their local police. A Silver Alert for Myrtle Polk remains active.

Dallas police have discontinued the Silver Alert issued for a missing elderly woman nearly a month ago.

Although it’s been discontinued, Polk is still missing.

"Ms. Polk is still listed as a critical missing. This case and search are ongoing, while the Silver Alert is no longer active. Detectives continue to actively work the case, and our Special Investigations Unit is assisting with the investigation," said Sr. Cpl. Melinda Gutierrez, a spokeswoman for the Dallas Police Department.

UPDATE:
“The day she was last seen was Saturday, the 8th, sitting on her front porch as someone cut her yard."
Her family said cameras also spotted her driving a 2004 Black Lexus toward her Oak Cliff home that day.

The family told WFAA no one has seen her car either.

“The car hasn’t been seen since the 8th, which has really been perplexing because there’s not far you can go before your car is picked up by a flock camera,” said Nora.

Law enforcement and community members have been helping in the search. Some have even reported sightings of her.

Philip said the most recent sighting was Tuesday. A woman told the family she saw Polk in Cedar Hill at a Bank of America lot near 67 South and Belt Line Road.
“The person who saw her in Cedar Hill made mention of the fact that my mom said to them that she was tired of people taking her stuff,” said Philip Polk.
He said when the woman went inside the bank for help, Myrtle Polk walked away.

….

While we want people to keep looking for the car, we also want people to be mindful of the fact that she may be on foot,” said Philip Polk.

“My mom, to say she is a pillar in the community may sound cliché, but I don’t know any other accurate description other than she is Mama Polk to everyone," said Philip. “The day she was last seen was Saturday, the 8th, sitting on her front porch as someone cut her yard."

Her family said cameras also spotted her driving a 2004 Black Lexus toward her Oak Cliff home that day.

“That Saturday, she spoke with someone on the phone that evening from the home. That was the last person that we know of that spoke to her,” said Nora Polk, Philip Polk’s wife.

“The car hasn’t been seen since the 8th, which has really been perplexing because there’s not far you can go before your car is picked up by a flock camera,” said Nora.

Still missing :( I feel like if it were really her at/near the bank, we'd have surveillance footage by now. At least to show what she'd last been wearing.

There's another elderly woman(Annette Kennedy) missing out of Plano today and at least there have been several sightings of her on traffic cameras, so she really is out there lost driving around, the police just haven't been able to catch up to her.

I feel like if Myrtle Polk was still out there, we'd have some footage of her by now. I don't know how the Dallas traffic cameras compare to Plano's, but I find it hard to believe she was driving around for any length of time, to not show up on any cameras at all when Annette has been spotted on cameras within hours of going missing.

This is sad and hope they are both found soon. Also, there are traffic cameras everywhere in Dallas, so yes it's hard to believe Myrtle Polk was not captured on camera at some point. Something's not right and I just hope a thorough investigation is being done.

Still missing.

*****
She is also a former Dallas ISD teacher and administrator. She's been active in her church for more than 40 years, where she met friends who became her family. On Thursday afternoon, Polk's 'church family' plastered her missing person fliers all over businesses.

Polk's son said he still has hope he will find his mother but needs help to get it done as police are not able to devote as many resources as before.
