Meanwhile, a number of local officers circulated the suspect’s photo based on the dashboard camera footage and were allegedly able to find him inside a nearby business less than a mile away.

“A deputy observed that he looked a little nervous and put him in custody, and that did turn out to be our shooter,” Lee stated, adding that the weapon was recovered in the same parking lot of the nearby business.

Officers later identified the suspect as Robert Solis, 47, and charged him with capital murder. An unnamed female who was a passenger in the getaway vehicle was also taken into custody, Lee said.

Solis had an active parole violation warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon dating back to January 2017.

At this time, it is unclear what caused Solis to allegedly shoot Dhaliwal in the back of the head.

My prayers, and warm thoughts continue to be with you Sandeep, your shattered family, community, and all of your sisters, and brothers in blue.

They will always honor you, and what you did from your loving heart throughout your entire life until you made your final act here on earth.

It's sad how you lived your life to protect all others, and at the end, no one was there to protect you. Even as wise as you were you put your faith in the wrong one. :(

Sandeep, I have no doubt you are in Heaven, so you know of all people, that even though your precious life has come to a tragic end, you don't have to worry anymore about your beloved wife, and children.

Your sisters, and brothers in blue will pick up the torch, like they always do for all fallen heroes like you.

So you can go rest easy now my brother, your work here is done.

Job well done. Job well done.

Somehow we have lost our way even more so over the last 6 plus years.

We law abiding citizens are also to blame for allowing it to continue for so many years, and remained silent instead of never taking up for ourselves on an individual basis.

But when watching all of this current turmoil very closely for many many years now, I know without any doubt, maybe for the first time, millions are finally realizing they too have the same powerful freedom to express how they feel, and more, and more.. are rising to their feet to also exercise their right of freedom of speech, even though in the most free country in the world many good people's voices are trying to be surpressed even now. :(

I have always stressed here when I've posted anything...I can only be true to myself.

I will not let anyone else define me who has never met me nor anyone who claims I'm only one way because of what category or group they decide to lump me in for their own ill gotten gains.

Imo, I'm not alone either who refuses such unfairness. I'm just one of many millions who will defend the rule of law, and order that once brought great pride to most all of us.

Very well said!!! I completely agree with you! And you are correct in that "We law abiding citizens are to blame for allowing it to continue".

It really is a shame that so few post when an officer is killed in the line of duty, but there are so many who will post against them when a perp is shot.

Our country should be ashamed for the way our LEO's are being treated. And to see them stand in place while they are doused with water, being recorded and cursed just infuriates me, because it says that they no longer have the right to defend themselves without fear of losing their jobs or going to prison.

I know a lot of people in law enforcement and know how little pay they receive for the work they do. I admire each and every one of them for putting on that uniform and going out to protect a generation of people who have ZERO respect for them.

Thank you for your support of our guys and girls in blue!!!

I for one cannot figure out how a human being can be raised with such hatred. Who taught him to hate? Who taught him violence was the answer? Who taught him to be so selfish and presumptuous, as to believe whatever he wanted was more important than kindness, love, empathy, tolerance? I don't get it.

This officer was raised to be tolerant, humble, kind, empathetic, giving and loving. He knew how to build a bridge between people of different religious and ethnic backgrounds. He did so much good work. RIP Officer.

How in this great country do we have two families that come from such polar opposites? The wrong man died. I hope legally the perp loses his life quickly via the judicial system.

Although the truth is often extremely brutal to digest or even begin to comprehend ...often the answers, and root causations are right in front of us, and has been for a very long time if we just think about them, and do a deep dive ourselves making us fully aware.

Why many decide its far wiser to ignore all of it instead of owning it, and finding positive ways to actually combat it, remains unexplainable mystery to me.

I've never tolerated it well when I see lies told without one factual piece of evidence proving any of it. I just believe anyone should know the evidence or at least the facts before they comment. That's just me though.

Imo, So starting many years passed now so many things remains still ignored more than ever before that have continued that way.

To solve all serious issues one must be willing to own it, first, and foremost, then find positive solutions like we've seen in the new prison reform recently enacted into law as only one example.

I think each one knows why Sandeep had turned out to be a kind, loving, and caring man throughout his life, and why the murderer was the one on the other end of the gun who took his life.

Until ALL really honestly, and openly wanting to find positive solutions to resolve the many serious whys..it keeps happening over, and over again, many more victims, both innocent law abiding citizens, both adults, and defenseless children, and more officers like Sandeep will fall ...by so many who have been taught, more, and more, it's now perfectly acceptable to target any one of them to take their lives no matter the area they loyally, and honorably serve to protect in the most adverse toxic atmosphere for them all in modern times.

Only bitching about anything constantly has never solved ONE serious problem ever, and unfortunately for all of us, we have numerous root causations why all of this is happening.

No, Anne, it's I who should be thanking you,and I do. :)

Thank you for you support, and sharing with us all.

Believe me we need far more Annes..in our world than all the Anti- All Police!

We have them too..millions of our people believe in the rule of law, and all of those who are willing to laydown their very own lives for others, most they have never met...who do so.

I think even many supporters feel threatened for their own safety, and families now if they dare to publicly support our officers like they are about so many other important issues. That's another terrible tragedy itself that's happening to good people. :(

Our police officers are truly the ones who don't just talk the cheap worthless talk, but they are the very ones who does what they promise to do.

It's very ironic to me that it seems those who vehemently rail against ALL police enforcement agencies everywhere has never served one day walking in their boots.

I can only surmise by their constant anti-police stance they aren't willing to sacrifice their own lives in order to save someone else here on our own soil, which becomes more dangerous for all police agencies every day.

Deputy Dhaliwal was shot twice, at least once in the back of his head, during a routine traffic stop.

Where is any sympathy from the many here who mock and scoff policemen who fear getting ambushed? Probably saying “oh well, don’t be a policeman, you know the risk” from the safety of their homes. Well pretty soon we won’t have any new recruits or decent policemen. It is becoming more and more difficult to recruit new officers.

I don’t know why anyone would want to be a policeman in this day and age with the acceptance and encouragement of police hatred, harassment and murder. If one of my friends or relatives wanted to apply I would beg them not to.

My sincere sympathy to his family and friends. Houston lost a great officer and a family lost a great man because of pond scum with a warrant.

Great post. I agree completely.

@oceanblueeyes

Tell your grandson thank you from me for the difficult and dangerous job he does daily. There are still people who respect and greatly appreciate the many
officers who risk their lives for us on the daily and I am one of them.

My cousin is a retired officer.

Thank you. Thank your cousin's for a long dedicated service.

Our family is filled with countless members who have honorably served our country in many ways.

We have always been taught it's far more rewarding to be givers in our lives instead of self centered takers.

Oh! My beautiful daughter in law just texted me saying our grandson is going to come today with her since it's his off day. :(

He is so loving, and protective of his family, and has been since he was a little boy.

We long knew he would pick a profession where he would be willing to sacrifice himself for our community, and country.

D, was raised to be a man of honor, integrity, and he has many positive role models throughout his life.

We do worry, and constantly pray for his safety, but we all highly respect his choice. He's been doing this for over 7 years now, and he's only in his 20s.

Thanks again.

RIP Sandeep. You are now with all heroes just like you.

Oh shoot. Somehow by mistake I put a sad face, instead of a big smiley face, when posting about D, coming to see us today.

I should have put one of bright sunshine instead. Lol!

Sorry everyone.

Morning!

I was watching FNN this morning, and it was about Sandeep. He sure was a handsome man.

Anyway, the founders of Tunnel to Towers was on again saying they are planning to either pay his mortgage off or if he didn't own a home, they will build his family one for free, due to all the countless contributions they get from so many who care deeply about all of our fallen first responder heroes.

FNN is also having a free coffee day for all cops on Fox Square, and other goodies.

Police officers drink coffee most often because they work long hours, and many on duty are on duty in the middle of the night where most good people are sleeping while the bad ones aren't.

Acts of such incredible kindness needs to be brought to the attention of all law abiding people. Good news needs to be known more often to overcome all the negativity saturating us now.

Imo, it shows once again the silent majority is strong.

RIP Sandeep.

That warms my heart to hear, @oceanblueeyes. It won’t bring back this (handsome, yes he sure was) wonderful person and dedicated officer, but I’m overwhelmed with gratitude that his family is getting so much support from the amazing Houston community, my hometown.

Hundreds gathered at vigil to mourn Deputy Dahliwal’s loss.

Thousands say final farewell to slain Deputy Sandeep Dahliwal. He leaves behind three young children and a wife.

The silent majority is strong, I like that.

I think every officer that is killed or injured in the line of duty should have a thread here. Let’s try to make sure that happens, what do you think?

@oceanblueeyes your family rocks!
