He looks young. 18ish.

I hope they catch him. I cannot find any followup to the original articles. I have emailed both news outlets. Hopefully, I'll hear something back soon.

HARRIS COUNTY -- The man who help save a teenager who was brutally attacked near a local high school says he is haunted by what he saw.
The 16-year-old girl escaped her attacker Tuesday night by pretending to be dead.
Joseph Grass says he was on a date at a Cinemark in northwest Harris County when he saw the teenage girl who had walked a half mile after being sexually assaulted.
The attacker is still out there.
“I think God puts us in specific places for reasons,” said Grass.
The image of what he saw in the parking lot is engrained in his memory.
“It looked like she was wearing a red dress; she was bleeding badly from her head,” he said. “We were just trying to make sure the bleeding was slowing down because she was really in bad shape.”

HCSO: Bloody shirt may be connected to teen's rape in northwest Harris County.

Published On: Feb 08 2013 06:37:32 PM CST

Deputies said they have found a bloody shirt that may be connected to a teen's violent rape.

Harris County sheriff's deputies said a man grabbed a 16-year-old girl from behind and dragged her into a wooded area on Spring Cypress Road near Avenue D, about a mile east of the Northwest Freeway, about 11 p.m. Tuesday. The girl was hit in the head with a blunt object several times, officials said.

Investigators said the girl thought the man intended to kill her, so she did something that may have saved her life.

"She acts as if she has died," Deputy Armando Tamez said. "She doesn't move, doesn't flinch."

Wait. Just realized this is from February. Has there been anything reported recently?

ETA: There is a thread here already: TX - Rapist wanted for brutal attack on 16 year old, Cypress - Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community

I'm going to post a few more articles. But I have tried to reach the HCSO, and they tell me that it is being handled by the HPD Constables, but when I contact them, they say they are not covering it. I am working with someone from Texas EquuSearch to see if they can find more out about this story. Please pray because I have been trying for months to get info on it.

Thank you, I was aware of the other thread, but I thought it was more suited for cold cases, since we have not heard another thing about it.

Rumors of Cypress serial rapist have nerves on edge

by Malini Basu
Update as of Thursday, Feb 21 at 7:40 PM

Stories about a string of rapes have been popping up on social media sites and blogs.
"It’s on Facebook. The media is not talking about it. Law enforcement is not talking about it," said Stacey Sisneroz.
A 16-year-old girl was raped and nearly beaten to death earlier this month. Her attacker is still on the loose.

<modsnip>

"There is no lone rapist going around in the Cypress area," said Deputy Thomas Gilliland.
Deputies have scoured the area looking for the rapist who ambushed the 16-year-old. Friends say the victim is still recovering and may have some brain damage.

* * *Shortly before midnight on Tuesday, February 5, 2013, movie-goers leaving a theater in Cypress, Texas, a Houston bedroom community in northwest Harris County, saw a teenage girl walking aimlessly about the Cinemark Cypress parking lot. The nude, unnamed 16-year-old was drenched in blood from a severe head wound. The theater security guard called 911 while several of the theater patrons attended to the dazed girl. Paramedics transported the Cypress Woods High School student by helicopter to a Houston hospital where she remained in critical but stable condition.

Hi CypressMom, I'm a Cypress Mom also with a child in the middle school there. So scary and I wish we had more information. Interesting though, that all the girls are talking about and the perils of walking alone in the night. For that, I am thankful!

Me too, Thorpedo. My daughter is now attending Cy-Ranch, so I'm pretty concerned. She told me last year that there were rumors flying that the guy looked exactly like a football player on the Cy-Ranch team. She told me, "Mom, he really does look like the sketch." She heard later that he had been interviewed by police, but since he was still there through the end of the year, I figured it wasn't him. She also hasn't heard anything else about it. It has been very weird that I have been running into dead-ends trying to find more information on this case. I have a couple of friends (cops) that work for HPD and they haven't been able to get on this case either. That is why I'm seeing if EquuSearch has any connections at HPD or HSCO that I can talk to.

I also read that they caught an African-american serial rapist working around that time, but he wasn't responsible for this case*. Interesting that Deputy Thomas Gilliland (presumably from the HSCO) said that there were no serial rapists working in Cypress at that time (see article above dated 2/21/13).

Wow. I looked up cy-ranch football. There is indeed a player who looks *exactly* like the sketch.

Hey this is CypressMom. I'm back. Lost my password and couldn't recover it for some reason. So I am now SKFinder.

I need help. This case is now over 4 years old and it is still not solved. And I can't get any answers at all. HSCO & HCCP 4 both say they know nothing about the case and each is still telling me to contact the other. Last time I tried to contact the Houston Chronicle and some other local papers, I couldn't get anyone to call me back. I contacted Jim Fisher at Jim Fisher True Crime and he wrote an article 2 years ago. He tried to find some answers and apparently ran into the same roadblocks that I did. But at least he wrote the following article:

A Cypress, Texas Rape Case: Why No Arrest?

Shortly before midnight on Tuesday, February 5, 2013, movie-goers leaving a theater in Cypress, Texas, a Houston bedroom community in northwest Harris County, saw a teenage girl walking aimlessly about the Cinemark Cypress parking lot. The nude, unnamed 16-year-old was drenched in blood from a severe head wound. The theater security guard called 911 while several of the theater patrons attended to the dazed girl. Paramedics transported the Cypress Woods High School student by helicopter to a Houston hospital where she remained in critical but stable condition....

http://jimfishertruecrime.blogspot.com/2013/09/a-cypress-texas-rape-case-why-no-arrest.html

I spoke to my daughter and some of her friends, who have since graduated from Cy-Ranch & Cy-Woods (I would not allow her to transfer to Cy-Woods when her father moved into the Cy-Woods zoning area), about this case. These are all kids that went to school together in elementary & middle school that fed into both Cy-Ranch & Cy-Woods. Either they knew the victim or potentially knew the perp. Of course, since we don't really know who the perp is, it is quite frightening.

Anyway, they have told me that when the popular CyRanch Senior (football player) from Cy-Ranch was questioned by police and returned to school the next day, he said that it was a case of mistaken identity and he never talked about it again. The girl recovered her her family quietly moved away from Cypress and no one knows where.

So, is the perp still here? Or is he off at college harming someone else? Speculation in Cypress has been that because Cypress is a huge sports town and many people have said he was a popular football player (Cy-Woods? Cy-Ranch?), that there is a huge coverup because this is one of the wealthier areas of the Houston Suburbs and it is growing faster than any other in Houston's move to merge with Brenham and/or College Station (kind of like a Dallas-Fort Worth merging). That puts Cypress dead center between the 2 areas. Is this why this case, the biggest case in Cypress history, is rarely even discussed in this town? And
every time a question is asked, it is responded to with "Oh yeah, whatever happened to that girl and did they catch the guy?" And why anyone who asks HSCO, HCCP 4, or the Houston Chronicle is met with blank stares or no return calls?

Why did this girl's family move away? Why hasn't the media covered this case since shortly after it happened? Why is each police agency still claiming that the other agency is handling the case?

Oh by the way, in case you didn't know....there is a new crime tool in town. It assists in finding serial killers that often use the same MO's and have similar victims. It is called Murder Accountability Project:

Does anybody know how to use it?
